I remember seeing an M100 for the first time in a back street of Kings Cross in Sydney in around 1992 and since then has always been a favourite. Just the angle the front has as well as how wide it looks while also having a very snub nose look about it.

I am the builder of that little T. I sold it to Peter. Putting another one together now. So awesome he has so much fun with it! Was crazy to see it go around the track.

Please post something on the hamb or mtfca on your new model t build. Your original car was a great. inspiration for my 25 roadster! I complicated it by putting a model a engine and trans into a model t chassis while retaining the model t rear. I wouldn’t recommend that route😂

had one of the first elan SE's with the opera style headlight and then a later example which was one of the last SE's just before the S2 came along. both were great and a very underated car all told.

Mr Thompson can hold his head high. I still rate the first Elise as one of the best looking cars to come out of the 90s. It has aged extremely well. And I'm the owner of an original Audi TT.

Does the English have a problem with recognizing Australian engineering and design, from Melbourne Australia - the Ford Ranger - just do your research !!! Current V6 GT 40, was done by an Australian heading a team of 6.

I'm a huge mk5 escort fan, but I'm not a Escort fan. The mk5 style is more attractive to me. I dont know why so many people were so concentrate about design opinion. It is particular. Each one have different opinions. I dont like mk3 and mk4 Escort design but I like mk5 Escort design. I'm not the only.

Came here via the Furious Driving Channel and loved this video from start to finish, I am a huge mark 5 and 6 Escort fan as well as the Focus, and I remember some of these concepts of the new Escort/Focus, the mules in testing in car magazines. I was 15 when the Focus came out and I was blown away with its styling, I wanted my dad to own one but I think he found the styling too radical at the time, I did own a Mark 1, and what a great car it was, still one of the best looking fords, that have been made. Also gained a new subscriber to the channel as well.

I own two of them. I put about 100,000 miles on them including several coast to coast trips (USA). Great GT cars, the trunk swallows a lot of luggage. Good commuter cars. Amazingly capable.

Etna wasn't bad but it was run of the mill Giugiaro; looked too chunky to be a true Lotus to me: the X180 is on the balls of it's feet where the Etna's sitting on it's heels. Interesting to hear GM's (enlightened) approach - the Pontiac Solstice (which I do have a soft spot for) was sort of presented as revolutionary when in fact it was nearer S.O.P. Do think it's a bit like the original Mercedes A-Class: driven by engineering rather than customer demand. Maybe because of some of the issues Peter highlighted, whilst FWD was acceptable for mundane machinery, it was not seen as the enthusiasts choice. How would things have turned out were it RWD? Contrast & compare with the contemporary MX-5... & I've wondered if this is why the Elise was, comparatively speaking, so retro (& RWD, obvs) Gotta say that the simpler cross sectional profile of the rear bumper on the silver car @16:07 does much to address my main gripe with the M100: the apparent lack of planform in the rear fascia, which the short overhang exacerbates & contributes to the car feeling a little oversquare generally Though clearly of it's period, it's also timeless enough that it _could_ still be on sale today - albeit with some changes driven by rule changes: even just as an academic exercise, would like to see a Stevens 2022 facelift sketch with fixed headlights...

This has not only re-affirmed my 35 yr old opinion of the X180 as one of the greatest facelifts* ever but further enhanced my opinion of Mr Stevens himself, whose approach seems to combine the best of 'back of a fag packet' humility with cutting edge management techniques (terms like 'multi-disciplinary' threaten to intrude) thereby maximising the potential of being in a small, flexible setup like Lotus *the term facelift sells it short, but then again he didn't have the freedom that could warrant it being called a re-design

This interview is quite interesting esp. around the constraints Mr. Stevens was working in redesigning from the guigaro esprit. Its incredible he came out with such an impressive design. I never get tired of looking at my Esprit SE.

So Cool - I must admit Jimmy sounds like he had the same childhood I did- I was 12 when I got my first Tamiya RC car, it was the Subaru Brat, then the SuperChamp, F.A.V. When I got the Toyota HiLux I was 14 and that was a game changer. Building a transmission and transfer case with hi and lo range, building proper ring and pinion front and rear differentials - well, like Jimmy said, thats where I cut my teeth on automotive engineering, that which I do to this day on my race cars. Thanks for the content.

@@stefannahajski i haven't driven a cyclekart no... But off the experience ive had with 200s and 212s I can honestly say I'd rather go with a gy6 150cc instead, because the power is roughly the same and it comes on smoother.... Just sucks those karts aren't allowed to run smaller engines...

Geoff May about his Maybug Meander: "Coil springs on the back, which operate on a sub-frame, which carries the engine." Two person bench seat, RHD, mirrors and gauges, headlights, tail lights, signals. Do you suppose it has front shocks too? I'm extremely interested in the electrical circuitry, the GX200 has "transistorized magneto ignition" (I guess not an alternator), so I guess a battery is necessary for electrical service? Seems to be a fairly heavy electrical cord running from the front (appears to have about 7 conductors going to the fuse block), perhaps a small motorcycle battery is kept up under the hood?

Wonderful summation of the essential nature of CycleKarts. Thanks for this - It really is true to what Peter and I had hoped for when we started realising people would be creating their own CycleKarts. I also like that you tied it back to the machines which were our own initial inspiration: cycleCARS. Very neat to get a perspective of your group, and to see the electric Delage in progress here. (am I right in thinking it made it to Brooklands for an initial outing?) I hope I can beg a drive in it, at some point. We have dabbled in EV racers in the past (had a car which won a race in the early '90's at the Phoenix Raceway. Did a good bit over the ton.) All the C-K's are lovely, and I would feel a bit ragged joining all of you, but ours were rough-and-ready and usually took about 4-6 weeks to make, so we weren't spending too much time on finishing. I LOVE the full fenders of the Wolseley! They add a great touch, and I think it's a great direction for C-Ks! All the best from Cal.

I still love my 1999 Elise 19 years after I bought it . Good examples now selling for mor than I paid. So no regrets on the money spent over the years. All the parts replaced are better and stronger than those that came with the car. No rattles or squeaks or leaks just a bit loud. Mine even has a carpet set bought from Lotus!
