Hello sir, I have a smart star projector device. The color light and the laser are working, but the motor is not working. I tried from within the device’s application to turn it on, but it does not move, and the light and laser remain constant. Can you help solve this problem?

had a 90% unresponsive power button but it still clicked; i managed to fix it by working alcohol into the switch body and wiggling/pressing it for a minute. Had to remove the heat sink and move the motherboard back a bit to get to this, but kept most flat cables connected. Seems like there can be some quality issues with these. I love the relative repairability of the steam deck but the power button and usbc straight on the motherboard are a mistake.

Yeah, vendor plating is always an issue. I've had to reject huge lots of contacts.

Got one from Goodwill yesterday, the prong is a bit chipped. Power turns on, then loses power (the blinking light stops) in getting the correct power cord, hopefully it’ll work

Hey there, I was attempting to do this repair but noticed that the central pin solder trace of the button was broken, do you know where I can connect a jump wire to that central pin of the power button? Thanks a lot

Have you had any luck with the black screen issues yet ? I’ve had several in for repair now and not one has been the actual screen or bios. They all work on an external monitor. Wondering if it’s some ic chip issue. ?

Have not had any in since, and have not looked into it. Would love the chance at it

WiFi issue and remote play seem to major culprits, also the SD card. Mine is currently randomly shutting down and seems to just die when walking around the house between WiFi signals on the mesh network.

What they don’t tell you is to do the bios reflash after all steps are done. Works every time
@mikerosoft21991820 күн бұрын
I had windows 10/11 on mines, tried all the steps and no go. My steam deck also works with it hooked to monitor. It's weird tho, pressing the power button no led light or visibility on screen but plugged in to TV I can see the OS. Looks like reflashing firmware is the last shot before I part it out

Tried everything as well nothing works. All combo with volume up and power button, volume down woth power button 3 dots with power button every imaginable combo. Nothing worked. The fan works and haptocs work but no boot. Even removed the battery cable.
I have one of these that is not working properly. Power is always on, but none of the buttons work. I pulled the board and I could see the Y1 transistor at position QB1 got really hot and IC at position U2 looks cooked. Not sure if the IC or an equivalent is available to purchase. Any suggestions??
@WayneBagguley3 ай бұрын
U2 is probably a microcontroller, can you see any lettering on it to identify it? QB1 switches the LED and I'd be surprised if that was faulty. What does U7 look like? It's the chip with 8 legs near QB1.

Love this video! I have the same product and my power button isn’t changing the function so my nebula doesn’t show up. I can see a dim blue light on inside the black box. Any suggestions?
@SolderBrothers7 ай бұрын
Thank you. The buttons have a long post that actually pushes the little switch. These can slip off and not actually push the switch.
@chloecomunale70187 ай бұрын
@@SolderBrothers I know the button is clicking because the laser turns off when I press them. But no matter how many times I press the power button, the function won’t change. So no turning it off or on and no blue nebula. Thinking the connection to one of the LEDs is faulty. Also, the motherboard gets hot when plugged in. Thank you for answering so quickly! It’s not the end of the world if it’s a goner, just a fun project we might be able to solve.
@WayneBagguley3 ай бұрын
@@chloecomunale7018 The board shouldn't get hot, that indicates a short circuit. Which component gets hot? If the laser can still be turned on/off then the microcontroller is probably okay. A dim LED could be another sign of a short circuit on the board. Does the motor still work? Can that be turned on/off?

The electrical may start to compress and become harder to push again. But, hey, if it works, you can redo it in the future if needed. Thanks for watching!

Can you give a TLTR version? What turned out to be the problem?
@SolderBrothers8 ай бұрын
Hi Niko, perpendicular button motions are always a bad choice. As the force is not backed up, the button begins to deflect and lose its ability to connect. Either replace the switch, which will still eventually fail again. Or build up the space between the button and switch.

I just love your videos, even showing when things can go wrong like dropping a screw. I've always been fascinated with fixing items even though I'm a female. When I was 7 years old, I asked for, and received a Mr. Machine for Christmas. (We are speaking of the 1960's here). Then I worked for Motorola assembling and soldering PC boards for their communications. Then I worked for a company called Prince Castle engaging in restaurant timers for their largest client, McDonalds along with Burger King and KFC. Then I worked for a pinball manufacturing company wiring the transformers and made the wire harnesses. I commend you on not cussing with that dropped screw...or did you do some editing? Lol! Again, I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks for sharing. Cindy.

Please Solder Brothers, I just sent you folks an email addressing the matter of my unit and look forward to hearing from you. This is best video I have seen on the repair of this A1121 Apple iPod Hi-Fi. Awesome work on this video, thanks for posting!

There is a PD usB c mod that powers the unit off the battery connecters. Great if the AC power supply is broken and you want to avoid opening it up.
I will be attempting to do the same... Does not work on Power Cord or Batteries... not sure what is going on... but hate to toss ... it sounded great! i am making the assumption that if not connected to audio with Audio Jack - the light on the front will still come on (if the power supply is working) - right now NO light in the front on Battery or Plugged in
