The set looks great! I'd love to see this setup used with the spectrum tube in place of the Mercury light source to see the difference in the larger collimating slit size. My school's chemistry department already has a set of a variety of gasses for the spectrum tube.

Due to the Essential Physics e--Book's interactivity, it's available for viewing in a web browser and not as a PDF. If you have your school's access code, you can get to the e-Book at education.pasco.com/.

Is this a chemical change or just a physical one. The temperature changes, but the substance it's self is only going between states of matter, right?

If you do video with the experimnet can you export the video? I wasn't able to find this.

If you record video in Capstone itself (say, synced with sensor data or for video analysis), the video is embedded and saved within the .cap file itself for the convenience of needing to manage only one file. If you'd like to get a copy of the video out of Capstone to use elsewhere, right-click on the border of the video display in Capstone and select the "Save Movie As" option.

What is the bleach used in this experiment?
@pascoscientific
@pascoscientific 9 ай бұрын
It was standard household liquid bleach, which in our location is typically a 6% sodium hypochlorite solution.

Can you only change the concentration after you find the absorbance?
@pascoscientific
@pascoscientific 10 ай бұрын
The known concentrations of the reference solutions can be entered in the upper table before, during, or after their absorbances are measured. The unknown concentration in the lower table can be entered only after its absorbance is measured.

If I have the x-t graph of a forced oscillation, how do I convert it to an amplitude-frequency graph?
@pascoscientific
@pascoscientific 10 ай бұрын
PASCO Capstone's FFT (or Fast Fourier Transform) Display analyzes data to show amplitude vs frequency. You can see the FFT Display demonstrated in this video at [4:32} and you can learn more about it here in PASCO Capstone Help: help.pasco.com/capstone/how-do-i/display-and-analyze-data/fft-display/.

@@pascoscientific but how can I find the amplitude of my position-time graph? In the X axis I get the frequency, for the Y axis I only get position, velocity and acceleration which are from the motion sensor, I don't get the amplitude. Should I type a formula for the amplitude? Adjusting my graph I get: x_{(t)}=-0.01e^{-0.01t}\sin (14.02t-2.76)+0.23
@pascoscientific
@pascoscientific 10 ай бұрын
You might try using the PASCO Capstone Calculator's "amplitude" function to create a new data set which picks off the peaks of your position-time data, as demonstrated in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ab6fea-I0q7JcmQ.html

How do you mix brown colors with this kit?
@pascoscientific
@pascoscientific 10 ай бұрын
Brown is usually described as a low-brightness orange. So you might try first getting orange like you see at [1:28] with the mix of red and green lights and then turning down the intensity of both.

You may be able to hear a louder sound if the tuning fork is kept so that the vibrations of prongs are parallel to the length of the resonance tube. In this demonstration, the fork is kept so that the vibrations of the prongs are perpendicular to the length of the tube.
