Hi. I have eastronic 2005 z16 xep engine astra h. When I start the engine for the first time, I take the gear A1 and move on, but it does not go to gear 2 before 3000 rpm. If I shift the gear to manual 2 before 3000 rpm, it stays in gear 2 when I stop. When I want to move again, the vehicle starts in 2nd gear. but after the first move, after the gear 3 or 4 or 5 is passed, when I stop, it shifts to the 1st gear and when I move again, it switches to the 2nd gear at around 2200 or 2300 rpm without any problems. I have the same problem again when I stop the engine and start it again. At first this would only happen occasionally in very cold weather, but now it happens every time I stop and start the engine. What can be the problem.? Thanks in advance.

Brilliant. Thanks for taking the time to share. Update 2nd June 2021, re-soldering the connector cured the problem of flashing lights. Only the ABS remains on but that's ANOTHER problem. NOW I've got another old C-Max which has developed a similar problem....so here I go again!! Hence the revisit! :( I found that a typical ~70mm wide, plastic spatula (as used for lifting eggs out of a frying pan) is perfect for pushing at the centre, between the cluster and housing, to separate the barbs. DO NOT USE SCREWDRIVERS! NoAxe

My car same model like yours see by the radio and cluster my cluster speedo and rpm stated going up n down when parked like when I start the car rpm and speedo gauge go to like 60 miles and hour and down to 20 and up 50 mph same with a rpm up down is this a clock fault u think ?!!!! Help please !!

I was told by the dealer in ford he has never heard of this problem, and he has been there 30 years, yet its quite a common fault, and I am surprised about the price difference, £1100 from dealer.

If there is no Ford, Renault and Opel would be the worst car makers.

Call Ford Customer Services if you have dash issues, they acknowledged there was a fault and introduced a fixed price repair scheme for around £100

hi, you said to leave gear selector in neutral. my display shows gear goes back to A after engaging neutral. anyway to get it to stay on N? also on live data shows 'shift point actual = -11.62 mm', 'shift position request = 0mm', 'actual gear =4', 'commanded gear=4'. any help appreciated. it is a corsa d 2008.

Fixed mine, thanks for sharing, mine was covered in a layer of fine dust from the air circulation system and just needed a good clean out, 1 connector to remove and 2 torx screws and it's out, make sure you use a soft plastic tool to lever the cluster out or you will damage the plastic.

Instrument cluster fault on my partners Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec, sent it to Sancars, (bought via ebay) mailed it Sat, they had it Mon, it was mailed back Mon afternoon I received it TUE! Amazing service, excellent communication from them, it's now a month later car still working fine. Ford Main dealers told me it would cost between £700-£900 depending on the model. Total cost via Sancars was 68.99 plus £4.50 postage. Thank you very much indeed.

I had exctly the same problem all you gotta do is drop the stearing and there is a little flap that's attached to your stearing wheel which clips into the clocks just take that out and clip it under the holes it was oringally in, had this problem for months on my 06 focus been ok now for 2 months since I done that method hope this helps anyone who has the same problem

Took a ford focus 1.6 petrol on a 59 plate (UK) to a ford main dealer today, £135 for a diagnostic scan, they did a up-date to the software, said they were confident it would solve the issue we were having. An intermittent starting issue, engine malfunction warning and the reduced acceleration warning coming on(time will tell if they are right) They said it would cost between 700 to 900 if the cluster needed replacing. Nice to know there is an alternative to their huge charges. Many Thanks.
