I just bought this exact car this past weekend. This is my first Subaru ever! This is a great car anybody complaining about this doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

He should have compared the Subaru with the Meridian Edition. He failed to mention the CX-50 on premium gas you get 256 HP 320 lb ft of torque. Also, there is a setting for allow touch screen. No thank you to the CVT engine. 2.5 out of 5 stars review

If the Subaru is using a CVT then definitely the Mazda.

I don't like Mazda just for the design/look in and out. This is personal, but I prefer Outback look better. Just 1 example: the dashboard cluster... I prefer 2 analog dials RPM and MPH and NOT 1 big dial at the center. Again, this is personal and everyone is different. I did a lot of research and compare when shopping for a new car for myself last month. Between the CX-5, RAV4, Rogue, CRV and Forester. I initially picked Forester but ended with Outback because they offered a better deal than Forester. They offered 2024 Outback Touring brand new for $41K OTD.

So you compared the CX-5 and not the CX-50? In Canada the Meridien edition is fully loaded (I'm talking Bose, Ventilated seats, wireless charger, anti-glare hood etc.) For the price, for me, I get a lot more out of the CX-50 other than the 1 inch ground clearance(he says it's 8.3 inch clearance but I believe it's 8.5 inches.) There are two analog dials (gas/temp and RPM) to the left and right of the speedometer. I needed something to get me through all the gravel roads around a secluded part of northern Canada and I felt the CX-50 was generally safer to do this in. I fumbled with the HVAC and countless controls on that touchscreen in the Subaru. I preferred all the buttons and dials for HVAC, heated seats/steering wheel, ventilated seats in my CX-50 Meridien. The tried and true powertrain in the CX-50 and Mazda's great attempt at a luxury interior is what really sealed the deal. I couldn't do a CVT transmission.

Great review. My only criticism if this updated Sorento is the rear tail lights. I think they looked better on the previous generation when the lights were seperate. I think they updated these just for the sake of updating .......if that makes sense!

Why would a boxer DI engine by Subaru has less maintenance than a Toyota i4 inline engine, with self-cleaning? Never heard of less repairs on a Subaru than a Toyota. Where is that data? Interiors vary depending on the level you buy. Subaru wins for safety, stats wise. Subaru wins for AWD system. But, will you guarantee the car to be free of oil consumption issues? Will a direct injection not carbon-up over time -- extra maintenance there! Will the engine develop leaks over time? The CVT transmissions cost of $7K to $10K is a bit steep --- one must pray that never breaks.

I have driven Subarus for years. My twin brother also drives Subarus. His Subaru legacy has 225,000 miles. I have never had any issues with oil burning with my Subaru Foresters. BTW--these all use the same boxer engine. I drive a base model 2020 Subaru Forester. The seats in the Subarus are way more comfortable and higher quality than the Toyota. I have test driven the toyota-------the seats suck and are uncomfortable. The Subaru fits taller men better than the Toyota. I'm six food six tall. I could see out of the Subaru windsheild better than the toyota---better visibility. Now, I don't drive like a maniac and neither does my brother. You don't abuse a boxer engine. I drive it like an old man, smooth, easy and never abuse my Subaru. In four years, just have had oil changes, filter changes and tire rotations, etc. The normal maintenance stuff. This is my second Subaru. My brother is still on his first Subaru Legacy. After 225,000 miles, my brother's Subaru Legacy has not engine leak issues. His is still running like new.

When you purchase a brand new vehicle from Hello Auto Group, we include a Lifetime powertrain warranty at no extra cost. Keep in mind as well that CVT transmissions are now used by most manufactures/makes/models. We have more info on our website but for the most part any of the unfortunate issues you listed should be covered by our free powertrain warranty, Thanks for watching :)
