I stand by what I said to you in my previous message. Yes, you were correct when you stated that Washington Redskins started wearing their white jerseys at home in the 1980s. The 1981 season to be exact and Joe Gibbs' first year as head coach of the Redskins. On opening day of the 1981 NFL season the Washington Redskins, wearing their white jerseys, hosted the Dallas Cowboys in old RFK Stadium where the Cowboys wore their new road navy blue jerseys and silver / gray pants for the very first time. Final score: Dallas 26 - Washington 10. In regard to why Dallas changed its uniforms in 1964 and added silver metallic blue to its team colors; I had always heard that the Cowboys wanted a modern, futuristic look. As a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and a student of history , especially the history of pro football, I know what I am talking about. If you disagree with anything that I have said then I challenge you to prove me wrong.

You and I have quite a lot in common. My heart has been a big Blue Star since late '78. I was 9 years old. And America's Team has been my Team ever since. And I will always be in their corner no matter what. And I too am an avid student of History, including Cowboys and Pro Football History are a special passion of mine.. If you explore my channel you'll see. I guess I should stand corrected about why they changed their look in '64. Maybe I was just guessing. Thanks for the correction. And let's have a great 2024 season. How Bout Them Cowboys 🏈🏈✊✊🔥🔥

@@jstube36Let's hope that our Dallas Cowboys can some how find their way back to a Super Bowl victory, preferably sooner rather than later. I am 62 and was born in Ft. Worth, TX. but grew up in N. Carolina. Not meaning to brag, but I have an extremely good memory and my earliest, clearest and most vivid memories of the Cowboys and pro football in general go back to when I was a 7 year old 2nd grader in the 1969-70 school year. The 1969 pro football season was the last one with the AFL and the NFL as separate leagues before their official merger starting with the 1970 season. I have hated the Cleveland Browns with a passion since 1969 because the Browns stomped the Cowboys 42-10 up in Cleveland during the regular season and then the Browns traveled to Dallas in the opening round of the playoffs and clobbered the Cowboys again 38-14. And I remember watching Super Bowl 4 in mid January of 1970 in stunned shock and horror as the AFL's Kansas City Chiefs easily and effortlessly defeated the NFL's Minnesota Vikings by the score of 23-7. I thought for sure that it would be the other way around. I had so much fun as kid in the 1970s with the great music from that decade and pro football from 1969-70 through 1979-80.

I must respectfully correct you.The Cowboys wore royal blue jerseys from 1960 through 1980. Their original colors were royal blue and white from 1960 through 1963 and they wore their blue jerseys at home. Starting in 1964 the Dallas Cowboys changed their colors to royal blue, metallic silver blue and white and started wearing their white jerseys at home. Both the Rams and the Cowboys had the same shade of royal blue, even after the Rams changed their pants from white to a sunflower gold starting in 1973. Some opposing teams wore their white road jerseys at home whenever they played the Cowboys because their road blue jerseys were allegedly cursed and / or jinxed from the mid 1960s through the 1980 season. Among those teams were the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and Denver Broncos. The Dallas Cowboys last wore their royal blue.road jerseys.at Veteran's Stadium against the Philadellhia Eagles in the 1980 NFC Championship game in January of 1981. The Eagles beat the Cowboys 20-7. Starting in1981 the Cowboys changed their road blue jerseys from royal blue to navy blue and their pants from silver metallic blue to a silver/ gray. The Cowboys continued to wear their silver metallic blue pants at home when they wear their home white jerseys.

Starting in the 80's, Washington would wear their whites at home. Just to make the Cowboys wear their Blues at least once a year. I guess there were times when it looked a lighter blue. Depending on what kind of lighting hits it. Or perhaps the tint level on the TV. In the game against Philly it did look a bit lighter. And yes I know in '64 they changed to the colors we know today. After the Kennedy killing they were booed mercilessly wherever they went. They needed to change their image.

The Los Angeles Rams' blue jerseys from 1966 to 1972 look exactly Ike the Dallas Cowboys' road blue jerseys that they wore from 1964 to 1980.

Except the Cowboys changed to more of a lighter blue for most of the 70's-early 80's. Then they went to darker blue starting in '82.

You will note the shotgun being used throughout. Back then it was called the Short Punt Formation, which was the offense Fielding Yost used for the Point a minute Michigan teams. The idea is that most of the quarterbacks back then (Filchock and Luckman included) could punt, so putting the QB back there on third down might be a punt. If the defense drops deep, you pass, if they don't, you punt. (This is how Sammy Baugh's punting average got so high.)

The 1974 Falcons were one of the absolute worst teams in the NFL since 1960, even to this day. They scored 111 points in 14 games. Yet - somehow - they won three of them. This week's victory was key. They won a road game. But - they won on the road in the Yale Bowl, where the 1974 Giants went winless. There was true greatness in the 1970s, but in 1974, we saw some of the worst play ever.

I enjoyed this football life Alan Page looked like one awesome player what a legend. I’m a Bears and Dolphins fan I loved him remaking the Bears. His last game reminded of my high school team. We were 0-9 my freshman year started 0-7 the next year playing a much better team the next game I was a WR I scored every point in that game my team won our first game in almost 5 years. We also sent that team home for the winter I loved that we also built a State Championship my senior year
