Ooh, love nerding out on credit cards. Love the dedication from you on this channel! It’ll pay off for sure An interesting video idea I’d like to see is a video about how you would budget a hypothetical 50k, 100k, and 300k salary. No pressure on if you don’t want to do that, you won’t hurt my feelings.
@ScrubsandSavings212 күн бұрын
Hi Michael! I would love to do a video like that. I'll start brainstorming about what that would look like! 😊

Credit cards are like fire. Use it responsibility and it is an incredibly useful tool, use it irresponsibly and it can burn down your house. If you do not have the money in your bank account to cover the entire cost of a purchase at the time of purchase, you should not put it on a credit card. I do not care if "I'll get paid before the payment is due". You are playing with fire.

That is the dumbest thing anyone can do with a credit card 😂
@flubbers6 күн бұрын
Its reason for being used varies from person to person. Some people use them to help build credit for the future. For some people it helps to finance larger purchases that can be paid off over time if you have 0 APR for example. And some people just like to use them for the rewards and bonuses from them. I recently opened up another one so I can put my bills on and I get extra money back for spending a certain amount on it.

@@yashvelhal4497 you have two months to pay your credit card 💀 if you don’t check your app at least once to pay it, then that’s a skill issue. I’ve never missed a payment, never paid interest, never above my means, and I travel the world for free/discounted rates in 5 star hotels and Michelin star restaurants. I’m diamond status on Hilton and platinum on Marriot, presidential circle on hertz, and I stay in private lounges with free food in the airport. Forget the points or rewards. If you are frugal enough, you'll see that you'll have to spend a large amount just to get something out of it. I only use one credit card to isolate my bank account from payment transactions. I also deliberately overpay my card every month based on my budget, so it functions as if it's a prepaid card. Just choose a credit card with no annual fee and from a bank that is not of your payroll & savings account. Never carry balance or use it on installments as it means that you are spending more than you can actually afford.

Yes, some people don’t understand because we are surrounded by consumerism and it seems more “normal” to spend frivolously vs save and spend only on necessities. It’s sort of backwards thinking if you think about it.

I think that a no spend challenge is about not buying unnecessary stuff. If you need something, like food, shampoo if you (are about to) run out, petrol, etc., you can buy it during the month you are trying to save up. I need to do this again but when travelling I spend way too much. Wanna cook more "at home", take my water bottle with me, if possible not go into shops, I always end up getting something.

On step 5, just for thought. You could purchase a duplex, or even a triplex and you could probably end up living for free by renting the other unit out which is what I decided to do for first house and it worked out really well!

I plan on reaching coast fire within the next 11 years. I basically restarted my financial journey and left my 20s with a negative net worth due to a failed relationship. Within the last 26 months I have hit a six figure net worth and will hopefully be able to aggressively save and reach seven figures before I leave my 30s. Once I hit my number I plan on switching to a less stressful job, maybe teaching overseas for a work visa to travel, while living on a pension and allowing my investments to compound. I have a hairbrain idea of buying a sailboat one days and traveling around the world but I'm probably to frugal for it. Goodluck on your journey!
