I always made the distinction that a fall is when you collide with the thing which is supporting you (ground typically) and a crash is when you collide with some other object that isn't supporting you. Technically, with no context, falling would involve moving through space without enough control to arrest yourself. Crashing would be what happens when you land.

+gobbly1337 ... Quite true. Falling doesn't hurt - it's the sudden stop at the end that does.
