Cool video, thanks for putting this out. Do you shoot the stages in this order, or can they be mixed up?
@offthedraw
@offthedraw Сағат бұрын
Each club will set up the stages based on bay quantity and size, and what stage you start on will be determined by what squad you're in. So you'll potentially see them in all sorts of different orders.

For rifling shooting with red dot...what is the best zero distance to set to?
@offthedraw
@offthedraw Ай бұрын
Unfortunately I haven't shot any carbine divisions yet, so I can't give you a good answer. I've only shot handgun divisions so far. If I were to speculate, I would say that the farthest target in USPSA is 35 yards. So zeroing to 35 is probably a good place to start.

Thanks man! Im GM in RFRO, RFRI, and PCCI and I’m just now getting into carry optics. It’s a different game for sure and your videos have been very helpful! My biggest struggle is wanting to shoot as fast as I do with the rimfire. I need to slow down and GET MY HITS!
@offthedraw
@offthedraw Ай бұрын
Lol, I can only imagine how much harder it would be to have to slow down from RF and PCC to CO. Eventually in the next year or two I'll make the jump to RFRO, and I already know how exciting it'll be to burn down stages. I wish there was more competition in CO, (RF seems to be where all the heat is), but I get the sense that alot of people find centerfire pistol difficult.

I'm impressed that you can average 2.8 seconds per string. My best is 19.32, or 4.8 seconds. How do I gain *two seconds*??
@offthedraw
@offthedraw Ай бұрын
The first place you should try reducing time is on your draw. Let's say you want to average 2.8 seconds and your draw to first shot is 1.5 seconds, you only have 1.3 seconds to engage each reaming target, that's 0.32s per target for the 4 remaining targets. If you can get down to a 1 second draw to first shot, you now have 1.8 seconds, or 0.45s per remaining target. Which gives you more wiggle room so you can ensure your dot is on target before taking each shot.

Think of it like you're a boxer working a punching bag. It doesn't hit back, but you're still working on your form and technique, getting reps in. It's main benefit is you are working on certain skills at a high speed. So while it's not encompassing every aspect, it's making you proficient at certain crucial mechanics and techniques

Every stage at every match is different. You have a short amount of time to walk through and come up with the most efficient plan to engage all targets. If you're the fastest with the best hits, you win. Classifiers are always the same. They give you a way to measure yourself against literally everyone else in the sport on an even playing field.

this is as close to adrenaline-filled shooting as youre going to get without killing someone lol. It’s not like youre going to be clearing corners in an unknown structure in a self defense scenario. You’re training to put holes into things. If you cant hit paper, you arent going to suddenly get better when that adrenaline kicks in.
