1 N HCl does the work pretty well. If satisfactory results are not being obtained then the ideal normality could be decided by trial and error method.

How do you get rid of the bone smell? I've been putting it at bright sunlight and then washing it with hydrogen peroxide over and over again for more than 2 days and it still smells bad

Mine smelled too. Periodic washing with hydrogen peroxide and sunlight drying reduced the smell later on to a certain extent.
