I have a left turn signal + brake light + reverse light 💡 malfunction on my 2015 F56 mini hardtop. The mechanic told me that the pin was burnt out and it cost $259 to replace. Is that a fair price?

Hey Felipe, thx for reaching out. Pulling the codes for the airbag light show a faulty airbag control module on mine. I suggest pulling your codes and seeing what faults are present as the light can be on for many reasons. Best of luck!!

Thanks for this. I had exactly the same problem with the upper brake light on my mini. You have saved me a small fortune, as the alternative would have been a replacement back- plate from a main dealer.

Jymn, thanks it worked. It was kind of a mess on mine too. The board must have warped a bit from the heat. That made it really hard to guide the socket back in. Did your cleanup routine, the light works and no more bloody ⚠️ on the dash! Thanks again.

Thanks so much for this video, I have been so frustrated trying to figure out why my lights were not working properly on my 2010 Mini Cooper S R57, I had felt the connectors were getting hot, but I hadn't taken the light housing off. You saved me a few hundred bucks because I had given up hope and was going to take it to a shop.

I ordered mine off of eBay. That is pretty much my “go to” place for used auto parts. I know many others have done the same. Best of luck to you!

Dang. I did not know what I was getting into. Mine is damaged from going to carwashes by previous owners. I got the new base but I not know how to remove and replace. My 2014 Clubman has no sunroof. It’s a base model with no GPS, etc. (Mini manual tells me no automatic car wash. Now I know why.) The number of wires differs as the R55 Mini has no GPS or the cellphone wires. The base replacements vary from 60USD to 120USD. The diff is in the GPS and cellphone antenna. Crikey.

You can remove the panel that the lights mount on (the one you are working on) simply by reaching inside the little storage area behind the taillights inside the car, and pushing down on the tab that you can see on the top of that panel. No need to remove the taillight lenses, etc....

No, you can't. Those clips help hold the whole unit in the body of the car. The bulb assembly is held in place by a series of little clips around the shell of the unit ( as he shows in the video).

Did you go back through the same car wash afterwards? Did the new one break? Mine broke today in a car wash....

Bummer! I have been back many times but ALWAYS unscrew the shorty antenna. No problems since. I hear it happens most during cold weather as the plastic is more brittle. I don’t risk it anymore and just remove it each time. Good luck on the fix. Many have saved a lot by doing it themselves.

Hello thanks for the tutorial great job! There are 3 bulbs one for the brake light one for the turn signal but the 3rd one is for what ?

My R56 has just melted off the bulb holder tabs for the second time in about a year on the same brake light. Thanks for your video which got me thinking the problem is further inside the light unit and needs addressing as well as replacing the burnt out holder.

Thanks for the video & all fitted. However, mine only has the blue block connnector inside the headlining. So the white one (3rd wire) goes nowhere as it's a generic BMW/Mini part to fit others, but my issue is i have no pink block in the car? All very odd & BMW are looking into it. I did connect the blue-blue & try the Satnav, but sama as you i'm still around 200 miles off track. I wonder if disconnecting the battery would have same effect as an OBD?

Wow! Thank you so much. The dealership was going to charge over $600.00 to replace and install. I watched your video and thought, i can do that. I ordered my base and antenna for under $200.00 and installed this morning using your video and mirrors. Saved over $400.00.
