Thanks so much for your input, as we said in the video, we're totally up for hearing alternative viewpoints. The point is we're not comparing the services that both Spotlight and Equity provide, it's the double standards, that a company who earns tens of £millions from actors (and doesn't spend that money wisely in many, many cases) is LEGALLY going after another company for earning £millions from actors. It's hypocritical. We've received dozens of emails from actors looking for help from Equity, who never receive replies to their requests or get that help. Equity did NOTHING when a rogue agent conned dozens out of £thousands last year and it just seems like a bitter battle to get others to pay for actors' Spotlight fees, so they can then sign up to Equity with the money they save. When you lobby for changes to the law on what profits a company can make, that's a very dangerous precedent to set. We hope both parties can sit down and talk, rather than go down any legal routes and waste even more of Equity members' fees. These 2 companies have been friends for 90 years, it's very sad to see it come to this. Hopefully we get a peaceful resolution. And in regards to what Spotlight are? They're an advertising service for actors. Not an agency, not an employment business - they do ZERO employing. They are just like Checkatrade for builders. Oh, sorry I missed your point on E TALENTA - which is great to see as a viable option for casting in Europe. Please realise that the founders of any non-profit are still allowed to pay themselves hundreds of £thousands in salary each year though. Just because a non-profit can't make a taxable profit, they can divide income in any way they like - the non-profit label doesn't mean a company can't be very cash rich. And no, our opinion isn't based on the fact that we charge a small fee for our membership. It's based in fairness for all businesses, that's all. We also give away more FREE content than any other service provider in the acting industry. I can see you've experienced some of that in our 5 day challenge, where we gave away 12 HOURS of free content from some of the biggest names in TV. We do try our very best to be as fair as possible and to help actors of all economic backgrounds.

Hey Carrie - thanks so much for your input and hope you're well! I initially thought the same as you - that Equity simply wanted a cheaper Spotlight, BUT... their official statement says this: "It is in our members’ interests that access to work is fair, and the costs of doing so are borne by the bosses, the producers, who are seeking to hire people." i.e. that producers, casting directors etc. bear the costs of actors being on Spotlight. I guess it's a little ambiguous at the moment, but it certainly sounds like they don't want actors paying. And yeah, I agree - the workshops/ courses Spotlight offer are indeed too expensive. That is one area they could drop prices for sure. Appreciate you watching - I know that was a LONG video! Haha! :)

Hey Lindsay - definitely keep an eye on the jobs board on Spotlight. I do see some awesome casting directors still putting out briefs for high-end TV (not just via agents). Casting directors like Des Hamilton (Top Boy) and 2 x BAFTA-winner Aisha Bywaters are 2 names I see quite regularly. You're right - some stuff will only go to agents, but you will still see TV briefs as an unwrapped actor. Thanks so much for watching! :)
