Here's a revised version of your comment: I know this is an older video, but if you're still into tree work or hobby climbing, I think a lot of new climbers could really benefit from a remake of it. Consider using a newer camera or phone with higher resolution, and perhaps have someone film for you or use a steady base. Multiple angles and cuts could also help. You present the information clearly and in a way that's easy to understand. With those small changes, this could easily become one of the best introductory tutorials on using basic tree spikes on KZfaq. I really appreciate the video-thanks, and I hope the past 12+ years have treated you well. Nicholas Orion Williamson

I've always put the rope behind me just like you explained. Some guy was saying to have it in front of you, but it doesn't move as smoothly as when behind. So I was thinking,"Have I been doing it wrong all these years?". Do you know how hard it was to get a simple answer? Man! I can't really do tree work anymore because of an injury so I watch a lot of videos on the subject. I remember working for this company. We were in a neighborhood were there wasn't much traffic. We at a four way intersection. The guy insisted that we put the chipper literally underneath where he was climbing. He was rushing us so it was chaotic. I had a bad feeling from the start. Anyway, one of the ropes got all tangled up in a branch and like I said they were rushing (showing off is more like it) and the branch we lowered still had the line on it and the guy, from what I remember, didn't untie it as it was put in the chipper. So yeah, it got sucked in so fast. Fortunately no one got hurt. But I remember the owner trying to point the finger at us ground guys. I knew it was stupid what we were doing but I think he was so embarrassed that he had us work like that but he never apologized to us two guys who almost got killed. Some company owners are all about themselves. I just thought I'd share that experience hoping that other young guys would be careful and watch that rope making sure it doesn't get snagged and pulled into the chipper.

That's awesome. I love that saw. I bought one new years back even though I've never been an arborist. It was my favorite saw. I really regret having to let my ms200t, ms261 pro and my Ms361 go, years ago in 2004. Smh I can't afford them anymore sadly, but I did buy a G111 clone of the ms200t just because I missed having that 200T the most. I'm not expecting the clone to be as good or last as long in use time. But the design is the same so I'm sure I'll enjoy using it anyway. Lol Anyway congrats on getting a legendary beast of a Stihl top handle saw! 😎👍

So did you toss out the springs or did you cut them to fit in the 5" height?
@TreeBoi4Life
@TreeBoi4Life 3 ай бұрын
I ended up scrapping them because a bootleg modified box spring like this one and also as with most of the actual low box springs they are no different from having say a plywood base with a small amount of cushion covering it. I have a full size one now that is metal and no wood and it has a cover overlay with a very small pad but it’s maybe 3 inches in height give or take so again no springs just a base for the mattress to allow my family who are shorter to easily get on the bed without steps…😁 However I must add the real comfort and support comes from the mattress itself so I invest in a good quality mattress vs a box spring especially if they are a reduced height.

@TreeBoi4Life I just spent 2500 on a mattress and box spring, still within the 90 trial and they tell me I cannot exchange the box spring or return it 🙄 so now I'm stuck with a brand new $200 box spring that makes my bed way too high. Thanks for the reply, gives me hope that I can modify it from 9" to 5"!

it would be helpful to show how to know which climber is for left and which is for right --- how do you tell --- I watch another video they said the gaff should be leaning a bit forward - I guess if you had it on the wrong side it would be leaking backward ---- also how should you properly buckle the bottom straps -- should they go around the steel or inside-- should the long buckle be going around the back of the foot...? thank you --- I am glad you shared your knowledge of this tool !!!

@TreeBoi4Life
@TreeBoi4Life 3 ай бұрын
It was one of those round style throw balls that they used to sell but although that style you could get some serious height they were not as good as the ordinary throw bags which are just way more durable than any other type of throw ball/bag I’ve ever used.
