American here. When I was a kid, the local PBS station would have a weekly “Britcom” night and this was one of my favorite shows. They would also play Are You Being Served?, Mr. Bean, Blackadder, Vicar of Dibley, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Fawlty Towers and several more.

Watching these people actually really annoyed me. They must be from the sad old gits section. Imagine their reaction if they heard the pub landlord was called Dick Head! 😅 Or when Eddie smacked that charity collecter (victims of domestic violence) on the head with that little mallet. "Oh looks like a bit of a nasty one, have some yourself deary" 🤓🤣

American here. I've watched this show for years on PBS. I love it. You have to think of this show as slap stick humor with a running theme of a snobbish woman who wants to better herself and her social position but is shown by people and her environment that she is no better than anyone else. Americans may not understand the importance of some British people on social position and traditions.

It’s also funny how she tries to hide Onslo but he ends up being popular with the upper class people she tries to impress. Favorite one is when The high class lady Mrs. Fortisque ends up playing darts with Onslo and the Pub while Hyacinth is outside getting stuck on a truck with her skirt flying up. She was also in a series about a detective- had a completely different personality and starred with Dominic Monaghan of Lost and Lord of the Rings fame. The Heighty Wainthroup mysteries

you need to watch the whole series to understand this series, plus not every show has to be sexy, its a comedy. As for the dog, he does not like hyacinth thats why he always barks at her

I’m American and my entire family grew up watching this show in the 90s. We both understood it and loved it! And honestly this show has never stopped airing on PBS since the 90s, it’s hugely popular nation wide. I genuinely don’t get why these people can’t understand what’s going on. 😂 My grandpa grew up in Alabama in the 1930s which is quite culturally different and yet he could understand everything about this show and thought it was hilarious!

its so frustrating that Americans have literally no critical thinking skills so they aren't even able to understand the show.

It's become apparent that the British are convinced that the main difficulty with we Americans is that we're simply too full of ourselves. And while I don't entirely agree, let me just add in all humility that probably the most meaningful quote from our Founding Fathers as we are once again upon another 4th of July is in my opinion from Benjamin Franklin, "a republic, IF YOU CAN KEEP IT.". And at this juncture in our history I can only add, HEAVEN HELP US, BOTH OUR NATIONS. Cheers.

Well I'm sorry to be the one to say it but KUA is evem more of an excrement show than Pasolini's SALO, 1975.

I've had an epiphany as to how we could make KUA far more difficult to access here on the US side of the so-called pond (and the pond just isn't wide enough). Now, I WOULD NOT want to raise the spectre of censorship lightly, but we're dealing with Britain here, and please don't lose sight of that fact. Anyway, we might petition the NRA to consider that KUA is in a very oblique and subtle, BUT STILL DEFINITE FASHION an anti-firearm instrumentality. And for those the least bit cognizant, I should NOT have to explain why. Anyway, it's no secret, being on the wrong side of the NRA can be a very devastating development on our shore of "the pond". Well, need I say more?!?! This also would be a means of confirming to the world that we repudiate even the concept of being civilized, at least when it's spelled with an "s". Cheers.

To tell you the truth I used to watch this show when I was like 13 years old, I didn't find it funny then and I don't find it funny now, my Grandma was like Hyacinth Bucket, Grandma had 3 different accents, Firstly she had a Cumbrian accent then she had a Scottish accent mixed with Cumbrian and her specialty was her Queen Mothers accent, God it was embarrassing, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England

Funny how one of them at the end said "it looked like 80's America so 90's Britain" completely missing the point that this show was absolutely light years ahead of anything America has ever produced on the comedy scene. They sinply don't have the intelligence to work out what this show is. Superb irony.

Breathtakingly bad reaction video where they're telling us, without telling us, that they are devoid of humour or comedic devices like irony, satire, or hyperbole etc. All the best guys, but it's a No from me...

Well that raises an interesting question. If US Americans are clueless with regard to British class stratification (please don't tarnish the word "system" , the use of which carries Marxist overtones and you should be intelligent enough to understand why, and not butcher the language we inherited from the you). Once again to restate the question, if Americans are clueless about British class stratification, does that make us a.) ignorant, b) innocent, c) both d) neither? I have my own ideas but I am sure I will be derided as a yank who has the temerity to continue to exist. Cheers.

I'm an american and I love this show, but I also watched it at a very young age and I watched many other BBC and generally british shows at a young age as well, so I feel like I grew up ingrained with the pretty niche style of humor. I've seen other people watch this show with me and it just completely not hit for them, so I get where these three are coming from lol

To the people in the comments saying that Americans have no sense of humour and are too stupid to understand the show, these are only three Americans out of around 340 million so I think it’s a bit naive to assume this represents them all. They’ll be plenty of Americans, probably more blue collar working class Americans that would absolutely adore Bottom. Fair enough, they may not get some of the cultural/regional references as they don’t live in Britain but thats understandable cause I’m the exact same when I watch American shows, some references go right over my head. These pompous, middle class, pseudo-intellectual types (like these three) that think they’re too sophisticated for the likes of Bottom exist in Britain too
