Thanks @MrBIGTEE504 allot of work and time went into finding good and practical ways for the staff to work efficiently. Do you have any ideas we could consider to build on our current set up? the staff also use a hammer holder to keep their hammer close by to them

Probably a dumb question, but why do you use new slats rather than using old ones from pallets that have broken down? Cheers
@durhampallet4964
@durhampallet4964 Жыл бұрын
@Cocomuncha In this video we are using the same type of board that is on these particular pallets. You are correct, using reclaimed boards are more cost effective if you have them available as long as they are the same size or thinner in thickness. You cant use thicker material then what the pallet is made of since it would cause the pallet to wobble

Respectfully, your individual stacks are pretty sloppy. It should be tight plum all sides. 680 48x40 4ways fit in a dry shed.
@durhampallet4964
@durhampallet4964 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. A max of 30 skid spots can fit on a 53 ft trailer. Most common stack heights are 20 high lifts so we wanted to keep everything as common as possible and not show 'maximum space' loading procedures. Yes it is easy to fit a few more pallets on the top of a stack but the driver on the receiving end could really struggle to get off the stacks and potentially damage the roof of the trailer during the offload process. I do agree the stacks in the video could be neater but this is real world expectation when loading pallet trailers - rarely will a forklift driver ensure each stack is perfect before loading, so we wanted to show what trailer loading is really all about for anyone interested

@@jaspervn4722 It's not been ideal for someone of my stature but if you are able to focus you can get up to production. Night want to bring a respirator if they don't offer one, it's immensely dusty. Where I'm at they have 3 grades of pallets they go by and in which state of disrepair it's in is how much you're paid for it. If a pallet has a stinger plug in place already and three boards broken, it would probably be best to scrap it to save yourself the time(given this place works the same as mine) Good luck, all the best

You didn't mention the euro pallet and it's quite popular too. I sometimes take broken pallets from my workplace, for firewood. Goods arrive on them every day and they are quite flimsily built. I choose pallets made of hardwood as they are better for burning than softwood but hardwood pallets are few and far between. I think they are made in India or someplace like this as the wood is different from any European kind of wood I know. It resembles beech by the structure but it's definitely something else. I feel kinda bad because I burn wood that might be coming from tropical rainforests but if I don't take those, they will end up in the big container and probably get turned into chipboards or some other shit.

Hi Vlad, you are right I do not mention the euro or other styles - I just decided to keep things simple for the video. If I were to get into all styles and types of pallets, this video would be hours long lol Thanks for the comment

I was taught on a straight load of 26 stacks you start right end right because of the crowning of the roads for less chance of the last 2 stacks shifting in transit.

yes - the last 2 stacks can be unstable. We usually strap t he last 2 stacks to keep them from falling over. Thanks for the comment

do you need a licence to collect pallets off streets and sell them.on to pallet yards in the uk?
@durhampallet4964
@durhampallet4964 Жыл бұрын
No I doubt it - lots of companies just throw them away but I would check the sizes you get with the pallet yards prior to dropping them off, just to be sure they can take them. not all pallets are sell-able. Thanks for the comment

Efficiently?! I do not see this word expressed in this video. Great training video. Do you have a base pay, or just pay per pallet?
@durhampallet4964
@durhampallet4964 Жыл бұрын
thanks Chris. We start off on a base pay until the staff member understands what is required with safety and expectations, after that is known - they are moved to a Piece rate system where they are paid per pallet they repair. I really appreciate the comment!

Since we added pallet stackers to the operation the average is around 260-300 for the block style pallet. Thanks for the comment. We have a video on the pallet stacker on this channel as well.
