Bobbie, I am Miss LJ Steele, MA and am a retired K12 Educator who is also from a STEM family here in NC on both sides of my parent's families from NC, Georgia and many other places. My dad who was a Mechanical engineering major at NC A&T State University so many years ago and also my mom who was a teacher would have been proud of you. I had a student similar to you just before I retired who may also become a scientist one day and so will you. It is young people like you who continue to inspire me to continue to stay in touch with education each day. You may help to save our planet through the grace of God.

This is story is awesome. I commend this young girl for her achievements, and many recognitions. Which I believe she will receive many more. I want to say thank you to the police department who responded to the usual call of prejudice and skepticism, which put fear in the responding officers. But not Montclair police department who responded not out of fear but faith and professionalism. I love how the Bible see police in Romans 13:1-4. 1.Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2.Whosoever therefore resist the power, resist the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3.For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, thou shall have praise of the same: 4.For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; For he beareth not the sword in vain: For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

We need more people like Bobbi to protect our planet. Invasive species cause billions of dollars in damage every year, and global warming is accelerating the problem (of course, humans are the most invasive species on Earth). We are the cause of non-native species arriving where they're not supposed to be, but we can also be the solution. We can learn to stop these invaders from doing more damage if we stay alert. Way to go, Bobbi! We're so proud of you!

Bobbi Wilson is the 9yo girl who, motivated by science lessons from school, sought to identify, spray and capture harmful lanternflies from trees in her neighborhood. In return for her youthful enthusiasm a neighbor called the police about a "little woman" spraying stuff" because, "I don't know what...she's doing. Scares me, though." It is so gratifying that the police department, the community and an assistant professor at the Yale School of Public Health decisive took steps to turn Bobbi's concern ("Am I in trouble?") into a rewarding, supportive and memorable experience.
