I watch Japanese dashcam videos and it definitely seems road rage has become more common over there over the past few years.

You’re in their country you should respect them and if they say you cannot film or want you to delete you should delete it and comply right away.. deplorable handling of the situation.. no random Japanese person harasses anyone let alone without reason.. but the American entitlement shows 🙄🙄

Of course I take pictures in public places, but I respect other people's privacy. I don't like to appear on other people's blogs or KZfaq without permission, and many people don't do either. When posting pictures of people on the Internet, we should ask if it's okay to show others' faces in advance, but if you take a picture that shows someone 's face, you will need a permission. What Ido instead of getting permission is to work on the face in the photo so that no one knows who they are. On my own blog, I hide other people's faces and my own face with stamps. I never show my face on the internet other than Facebook, and I never write my real name, either. I use my nickname or first name on the internet. I'm not a criminal, but I don't want to be on the internet, and I don't want to be identified, so I've been working on erasing my face for over 15 years. Maybe she thought you were filming a movie to put it on the internet rather than for personal enjoyment. Your work doesn't seem to have a big problem initially, but if a specific person is focused, that person could claim portrait rights. The women might think you're a professional photographer or KZfaqr? At least you needed to have a permission to film this woman in particular because she could be easily identified.

I've interactions similar to this here . Usually it's because they have a bug up their butt about foreigners. What I've found works for me is to drop any form of politeness, get in their face and tell them to f*** off through gritted teeth. Works every time and I've had no trouble with the police utilizing this method.

As a foreigner is hard to know, but I have been living in Japan for more than 15 years, and there is an "unwritten" rule to not record/take pictures of anyone in public.

You were about to leave but suddenly you saw that group. It was interesting for you and obviously you took photos of them. Can hear the shutter sound. That woman, together with the group, saw you and ran through you and asked you to delete it. All you had to was apologize and delete those photos. I don't know why you were very arrogant? She was not strange or rude. It doesn't mean that you can take photo of everything because it's public. Probably she thinks that you are an oversea pervert or a kind of paparazzi. It doesn't matter! Why is so hard to show some respect? You won't lose anything coz of deleting those photos. That's why Asians doesn't like foreigners especially westerners.

It's his right to do so. Especially since he's in a public setting, while everyone is doing it as you can see in the video. Funny how they pick on the Gaijin foreigner and not the other Japanese who are photographing or possibly filming. Kind of seems discriminating.

It is a public place. Everyone in that area has a phone with a camera and could have also taken pictures. It is impossible to make sure that nobody in that crowd is taking pictures and she's neither a police officer to enforce the law. He wasn't trying to get pictures of a specific person like a stalker or paparazzi. If what he was doing was a problem, then Japan should ban the right to carry devices that are capable of taking pictures or film.

It's not illegal to film however in Japan there's a lot of cybercrimes which taking photos or videos of a young girl's face, underskirt, body etc. and post it on the dark web especially on malls and trains, commonly on school toilets.
