The area where the fur and the skin meets looks good. Especially with no blending. How do you make such seemingly smooth transition? I think it is very difficult to determine where there is skin and where there is fur. Especially around muscles. Shouls they have fur? How much should a rat be used for reference for the skin/rat ratio
@jwminiatures5 күн бұрын
By adding texture to the fur it creates noise in those transition areas. This helps to create the transition and smooth out those areas. I think it's really down to your interpretation of the model and the sculpt. You can use real life references to help guide you but generally I'll always do the snout, hands and feet as skin and the rest as fur. Obviously there are some exceptions, rat ogres and mutants tend to have more skin

Great video! Are you thinning the metallic paints at all?
@jwminiatures7 күн бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. I am not thinning them. My dry brushes are slightly damp which I find give me semi transparent layers, the metal color range are all very thin but cover great. I will say it really depends on your paint, it could behave differently to mine.

Why not use Metal color copper?
@jwminiatures8 күн бұрын
Those three paints from GW are my go to for TMM bronze and copper colours. I think you can create some really rich metallics with them
@9woah1horses608 күн бұрын
You could, but it would be more red than bronze. Also most people are going to expect their stormcast to be closer to gold in color.

Thanks so much for these videos. I really love this colour scheme but there are so many guides/videos that use 100 different paints and I just can't afford to buy that much - especially when some are for a highlight on one small piece of the miniature 😅

@travzac61925 күн бұрын
Does a pink basecoat actually help brightening the yellow more?
@jwminiatures25 күн бұрын
It gives a warmer shadow colour. Generally the process is to base them in magenta, not a baby pink, then zenithal prime with white, spray yellow and done. You get bright yellows over the white and deep warm shadows that verge on orange
