Thank you for doing this beautiful tribute to my nephew Joshua. To be able to hear his voice in your interview and listen to his music is a treasure. My sister Ella lost her one and only son Joshua, who was so talented, we miss him every day. God bless you and all those who miss Josh these past 3 years!

When Josh moved from Massachusetts to Phoenix he answered an ad that my band put out for a guitarist. After playing with him once we realized that he was exactly what we were looking for in a musician and guitarist. His catchy melodic leads and break neck riffs, the ambience he could create in a song set the perfect tone every time. It was like finding that last piece of the puzzle and clicking it down to see the whole picture. We sounded the best and most well rounded than we had ever sounded before that, our songs were fuller and he even pushed us to record and set up everything at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ. Which became our 4 song demo EP for Sola Mantra. Subsequently he stayed with us for over a year practicing all of our songs, mastering them, and contributing his own songs. Many of which would become Wolves of Winter songs. Josh encouraged me to become a better drummer and for the most part we all got along pretty well and wrote some seriously kick ass songs. However, at our last show, Josh and I had a major disagreement and I told him I was done with his pushy, bull shit ego. Josh wasn't always the easiest person to get along with due to his East coast attitude and brutal honesty. He was hard on us because he cared about the quality of the music. Which is exactly how a great musician conducts themselves. In retrospect, my ego was the one that was hurt that night and being a young and stupid kid, I let an amazing musician and friend walk away from something we all cared about and put a lot of time into. Granted, Josh was just as stubborn and hard headed as I was which is probably why we never spoke again. RIP Chowder, because of you everyone called me Reverend, because of you I became a better drummer, because of you I purchased a drumset(Yamaha Oak Custom Japan edition) that I would go on to take me to SXSW in Austin, on tour with Frequent Kings, and ultimately help me save the life of my goat, Luke, whom is so very important to me. Your reach beyond your time here is apparent and I'm sorry I never got the chance to tell you that I appreciated your talent, friendship, and motivation. We were both being overly dramatic and too sensitive that night and I honestly wish we could have reconciled. However, I'm glad you got to live your dream of having your own successful band and you rocked the shit out of everyone before you left this world.

Ridiculously underrated podcast. I clicked on it cause I love this band and this album, but I stuck around for the format, song analysis, and the questions. Tldr; Good shit.

Josh was my best bud. Thanks so much for honoring him. We never got a chance to throw a big get together to honor him with this damned pandemic. There was a ton of stuff he was working on. All of that cut short and quite possibly lost on his harddrive and thumbdrives. Mike may have some stuff that wasn't released. Not sure. Josh was a very solitary dude.
