I know of a male who is transitioning to female who is currently on estrogen transdermally. I can't find reliable information, but do you know if estrogen therapy (patches) causes an increase risk of prostate or any other cancer in men?
@DrWendi
@DrWendi 12 күн бұрын
Great question! Interestingly, estrogen may help reduce prostate cancer. Here is a paper but do some more searches and make sure. You can search something like "estrogen effects on prostate cancer scholarly articles" and then you get research papers :) Here is one I found www.frontiersin.org/journals/oncology/articles/10.3389/fonc.2018.00002/full

But why do lots of people who say jog sometimes look older than their age
@DrWendi
@DrWendi Ай бұрын
yes, very good point and I see this as well. When we do extended endurance exercise it causes us to secrete cortisol, that is a stress hormone that causes the breakdown of fat but also of protein in our muscles. I know many athletes that do extreme endurance, such as several marathons per year, or climbing mountains, or 3 day hikes etc and they do have effects of looking older. I think this is due to the break-down effects of cortisol. So with this in mind, it is important to exercise, however, short duration at higher intensity seems to be the most beneficial. Then also, very low intensity movement is really good, always being busy, puttering around the house and the yard or having a job where you are physically moving around a lot (but not just standing or repetitive motions), that is also really good. Humans have evolved to be doing things frequently throughout the day, it is not natural/beneficial to sit at a desk in front of a computer all day long. Hope that helps :)

@@DrWendi Thank you i really love your videos I myself went through crazy high blood sugars and i mean super high i then realised something was truly bad with me with blurry vision and extreme urine visits throughout the day and night so googled my symptoms and everything pointed towards the fight between glucose and insulin so changed my crazy grazing which was carbs and sugar from food to drink and slowly got my blood sugars down to a normal reading which done wonders to my health got my inflamed body down vision sharpened up lost weight my visits to the toilet changed and now my health is far more controlled just sometimes blood sugars fluctuate but i sense that now naturally and bring it down by walks and better foods .

@@stephenbriffa9053 so great you figured out what was going on and you made changes. Peeing a lot is very likely related to high blood sugar, and unregulated blood sugar plays a massive role in so many things including inflammation, mood, energy, body weight, etc etc. So great you are eating better and walking, that is awesome :)

But does the Adrenal really need to break down bone just to get calcium even tho people eat nutritious food?
@DrWendi
@DrWendi Ай бұрын
Not if people are reading enough nutritious food. We might get calcium from the bones between meals and then put it back after eating food. It's a balance.
