Could you please explain to us about the educational qualification for this exam
@UpgradeYourOET21 күн бұрын
Hello Anaswara, thanks for your question. The OET is not an educational qualification, but a test to show a candidate's competence in English for health care settings. For example, to be able to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council in the UK, you'll need to score Bs in all components of the test, as well as having your overseas qualifications. To start studying for the OET, you should be of a B2 (high) level. A score of B in the OET means you have a C1 level of English (equivalent to a 7 in the IELTS). I hope this helps answer your question, but do ask if you have more.

Instead of Thank you for accepting our patient, Mrs name? Thank you

Hello Shaya, thanks for the question. Yes, that would be totally fine! You might want to split it obey two sentences if you can, because it is rather long, but it's OK as you've written it. If you do want to split it, you can stop after "care." And then the second sentences would begin, "She requires your evaluation and management..." etc.

Thanks for the question. Something to bear in mind is that in normal circumstances, the patient always gets a copy of the letter; so how do you think the patient would feel if they read that about themselves? To be totally neutral, you can say "Patient x drinks y units a day/week and smokes z a day." This way you are being purely factual. I hope this helps!

@@UpgradeYourOET okay Thanks so much. For my last OET exam I got infectious mononucleosis. In the case notes it was given that he got some injury and he has lost his consciousness when he was playing with his brother. (They have been playing with a ball and his brother has kicked the ball with minimal force ) It was really confusing for me I spent so much time thinking whether I should include all these information? and I couldn’t think of a nice/professional way to write all that. in the plan it was given an ambulance has been arranged. Should I mention that to the reader as well? Thank you so much
@UpgradeYourOET2 ай бұрын
Hi Shaya, in order to answer your question, I need to know who you were writing to, and that will also help you answer the questions yourself actually. Will the reader need to know what caused the injury in order to help them care better for the patient? Or is the consequence and present condition enough? Will not knowing about the ambulance mean they will order one and so two will be ordered causing problems? Etc etc. Always think about your reader and that will help you decide what to write. @UpgradeYourOET3 ай бұрын
Hi Deepthi, I'm not sure to be honest. Let me try to find out for you.
@UpgradeYourOET3 ай бұрын
I asked some OET colleagues of mine and they said that anaesthetic technicians falls under the Operating department practitioners in the UK. This team needs to be registered with HCPC. HCPC's website only list IELTS and TOEFL as accepted English tests. But it's best if you call or email HCPC to check. Good luck!
@UpgradeYourOET3 ай бұрын
I checked with the OET for you and this is what they said: "our advice to candidates is to contact the regulator they wish to register with and enquire which version (profession) of OET they require, and if there are no particular requirements, that the candidate then look at sample tests for the versions they think they feel most comfortable with and to make a decision based on the typical contents of the Writing and Speaking tests." You can then apply for this: lm.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Foet.com%2Fpost%2Fhow-to-request-a-comparability-statement-for-registration-with-the-hcpc%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR3eBCLQM4x_BGh6QGCnswRdH8AJ41znW-9NsPv2pWXTwwHo3lwdsOe1TRs&h=AT2BDPwke6ul7DwgeDYtyiH9iapEZOE166yNtNYn0JPK9c7h19dF6JrJEAs7dRMGOmIlPIitx33KsdyMIin6rbf2QF-XsjOaeknskyoISKuisWRaGDe3Ptzea5v5T2L5f-TW1JjlBXAEMYv6FA

@UpgradeYourOET3 ай бұрын
Aww, Saminaa, I'm sorry to hear that. It's always so tough when you are so close. Unfortunately, it's really unusual for them to raise a score in listening (or reading) as it's mainly multiple choice apart from section A. Do you think your handwriting was not clear? If so, there's a very slim possibility and only if the new marker can read it better. I've not heard of more than one case of getting a listening mark changed, but I guess, it's worth trying if you can afford it, but just be ready for them not to change it. I'm sorry I can't be more positive, but at least you know you are so close and you can do it!
