I am a Mandarin speaker who understand Cantonese ,I can see HongKong's TV or listen to the radio from HongKong directly .but when I speak Cantonese it's like a disaster to HongKong people .they all bust into laugh .I am interested into Vietnamese too ,why do many Vietnamese words sound like Cantonese ? I guess perhaps Vietnam had been part of China for over 1000 years .at that time Cantonese was the official language of Vietnam .it's definitely not Mandarin or any languages from north China .

@@malorybertie8046 I believe it is because historically south vietnam used the sinoscript and had a very very huge influx of cantonese immigrants chinese immigrants also made up the majority of the economy of vietnam historically.

@@humble_integrity 粵語 and 越話 is not the same, only in the past. You statement of 11 dialects contradict your original comment. There are many "dialects" in china that are pretty much it's own language because it's not mutually intelligible(Cantonese, mandarin).

Crazy how Japanese is older yet mandarin and Vietnamese both kind of sound the same, but việt uses Latin writing system where as Japanese and mandarin texts look almost identical but obviously have different characteristics

Japanese is not "older" than either Chinese or Vietnamese. Also, there are many words that have shared etymologies between the 3 but that sound almost completely different. positive, proactive

I can immediately tell that this woman is not a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. All of the Mandarin pronunciations sound like approximate imitations rather than natural speech with natural intonation. Also, the channel name is HelloVietnamese. So, it is likely that the woman is a native Vietnamese speaker who may have learned Japanese and Mandarin Chinese in the past, but in regards to the Mandarin pronunciations, they all sound non-native/foreign. Usually, the only Viet people who can actually speak Chinese are those Viets of Chinese descent. You know, the Hoa Viets.

@YorgosL18 ай бұрын
