You need internal stiffened to use sharkbite with pex. A 10 dollar screw on pressure gage would allow you to know exactly what you've set it to and you can take it off when you're done.

You can’t tell pressure just by visually checking a faucet (unless you’ve been in the trade for a while). That is a good way to blow a line, $30 is WAY CHEAPER than a flood. Shark bite has a 5 to 8 year life, so you will have problems in the future.
