I have a professional, singer songwriter. She’s a good talent, but she can’t get along with her road manager. She’s too restrictive for her I wanna take my dog and she’s too prudish when she makes a joke about something she says Australia I’ve had to talk to my friend that is really making a big music. Do you guys live tour? She wants a little bit of freedom group managers are terrible. I don’t think they understand artists.

Great series! Im working with a small band right now. Question tho, how could I get in touch with her? I’d love to ask her some questions and kind of just pick her brain. Maybe even get all those spreadsheets she has talked about. Is there an email or social media I could find her at? Thank you!

Thank you so much for explaining all that so simply especially with the diagrams. I barely joined the IATSE and am studying mixing sound for live events and am also now super interested in learning the stage manager role just bc of how awesome that is! I'll let you know how it goes and if you missed anything :)

I’ve loved all of the Touring Management 101 videos with Andrea and it’s given me so much insight to the touring world! It’s also made me even more interested in pursuing a career in this industry; I just need to figure out how to get involved in it in the smaller town I’m in.

This was great, thanks for sharing these lessons. My friend and I just went through lesson one and two on the upright in his living room. Plenty there to practice one. One question, is that little outro riff you played at the end have a name? I 've heard it before, and would love to practice it. Thanks!

Thank you! That is not a specific song but is used a lot in jazz to end a song.

It may go without saying, but one thing I have learned over the years is your own comfort/health/well-being, since the job demands A LOT of energy and demands A LOT from you ... physically and emotionally. It's very important that you 1) wear comfortable shoes and attire, 2) Eat properly (what you eat is just as important as WHEN and HOW). Eat right, at the right times, focus on eating, try and eat calmly, and at a reasonable time. It may seem almost impossible, but it can be done. I avoid soft drinks, energy drinks, etc., although they may be tempting. 3) Manage your emotions. Know how to be assertive with everyone (band, crew, venue, guests, etc.). Show that you know what you're doing, be stern, treat everyone with respect, so you get that back. 4) This is a VERY tough one: try and rest and avoid sleeping aids. If you can learn how to meditate, all the better. 5) As Andrea has mentioned, being organized is ABSOLUTELY key. There is NO other way. 6) Be thankful with your temp staff (runners, hotel staff, venue staff, etc.) Those people that don't travel, but certainly help when you ride through town. I like to email them after we leave, it's something that goes a long way. 7) Keep a very neat directory of local vendors and suppliers in each city. Everything from taxi drivers to local pizza places and hotel reception staff. 6) Be open to share your resources with other colleagues. I'm sure I am leaving a lot of things out, but you get the idea: Be as healthy as you can.

You mentioned working in larger teams in ep1; does that mean that there's multiple Prod. Coordinators sometimes? Being able to trade-off either shifts/duties or a full day followed by a free one where someone else takes over seems like it would make for better health management, especially since your position is so integral to the efficiency of a show. Idk, but working multiple 20+ hr days in a row sounds like a good recipe for burnout.
@PAFMCo3 ай бұрын
It can definitely be a burnout. You really have to love the job. Larger shows have more help in them, but they are also larger productions so the work is still very intense

Does this work for tours that are not with music? For example my nonprofit is setting up a tour to do our program in 15 cities this Summer. I am looking to see if I can follow this guideline
@PAFMCo7 ай бұрын
You can definitely follow a lot of the things in this video since this is not just specifically for music. There will be some differences that you may have to cater towards your specific tour. There will also be differences depending on the size of the crew and the tour.

Hello, i have a question: when you play some notes on the E string, i can hear the string making noise (when it hits the fingerboard i assume?). Is that normal and supposed to be that way? Thank you.

this helped a lot ive been struggling for a while with just memorizing notes and this makes it a lot easier to work on them
