Hi Brandon- To add a blur effect (I think that is what you are referring to) I export three versions of the background image. One of them is perfectly focused and the other two have different levels of Gaussian Blur added to them. Or if I am working with a motion backdrop, I do the same in Final Cut Pro (add Gaussian Blur). Eventually we hope to add a slider in the Jetset app where you can apply a blur effect onto the image right within Jetset!

Good afternoon Doug! I'm glad you made this video. On a past video I had asked you if it's possible to use and Insta360 X3 in tandem with the iphone using Jetset, connecting both with an Accsoon SeeMo. What you achieved here is pretty great though, and has me thinking as to how much we can push jetset and these various cameras. Thank you

Thanks! The way we are using the Accsoon SeeMo with the Jetset Cine app may be close to what you are describing. This tutorial video from Eliot Mack explains the workflow and how the Accsoon SeeMo works in the process? Does this approximate what you are thinking? Thank you for doing this. Very generous. Any links to 3D modeled environments? The preset "manor" is amazing, but creating our own 3D model environments that are both photorealistic And are performant on iPhone hardware is a very narrow path that requires a lot of trial and error to nail. If Jetset were to create a similar library of at least a few dozen examples, it would inspire a lot of momentum and interest by letting users to just jump in and put it to work right away for a final scene.

Thanks, Brett! I know that there are discussions about doing exactly what you are suggesting. Right now the development team is working very hard with the JetSet Cine product and of course JetSet Cine is more than likely going to focus solely on 3D environments. We do recognize the interest in more 3D sets in Jetset and Jetset Pro (like the Charterhouse). I will keep you in the loop as those plans develop!

you could try a camera that auto follows you such as the swivl. This allows you to mount your iPhone, wear a little wireless mic and it follows you round.
@LightcraftAcademy-xo3bf
@LightcraftAcademy-xo3bf Ай бұрын
I looked at the Swivl just now and I am intrigued! Two questions/concerns. Will we need to sacrifice the lightning port when using the Swivl? I use the Lightning port (or USB-C) for attaching an external monitor. And/or will the Swivl app work in the background while the Jetset App is functioning? I think this could be a viable solution, however, if we can find some kind of tracking device like this that works as a standalone device. Thanks for weighing in!

Hey thanks for trying it out. It's a bit subtle but improved. So what you did with the gradient is helpful for getting the contrast, black and white levels to be the same but isn't the full story. You'll notice the white in your hair is clipping yet nothing in the background that is white is clipping. This is a sign that your white level is still off a bit. As far as color vividness is concerned, I was recommending the use of a gradient that has a color chart. Between the two of these, you should be able to zero in on a near match between the scenes (assuming both light sources are full spectrum - aka the sun or professional film lights) (If you want to take it to the next level, you could even try to match lighting ratios and angles for the scene by the use of an 18% grey "VFX Ball". They are wildly overpriced so I just had some 18% grey paint mixed up and sprayed onto a garden gazing ball.)

Thanks, Brett! This is great and you have given me some ideas for future lessons. Your original comment disappeared- glad we have reconnected! My channel is tricky (which makes it even more fun) because I am really producing content for a couple of different audiences- the professional filmmaker with technical savvy, and at the same time (as an example) a 5th grade teacher with no film background who is looking for a strategy to engage his/her students with free tools that the kids can access on their own (iPhone, Canva for Students). Have you taken a look at Jetset Cine? It is incredible what the development team is doing with this same tech married with cinema cameras. Thanks for your feedback! It is very helpful!!!

@brettcameratraveler Ай бұрын
Insta360 X4, 360, VR, but add 2:1 for the aspect ratio rather than 16:9 if you want to increase your field of view to closer to 360. Keep in mind, it's not seamless. You should be able to use photoshop to cut and AI fill in that seam.
@LightcraftAcademy-xo3bf
@LightcraftAcademy-xo3bf Ай бұрын
@@brettcameratraveler Thanks, Brett. Yes exactly. Thanks for the reminder about the 2:1 aspect ratio. I have been plugiing in 16:8, but obviously that is the same thing. And Photoshop does a pretty good job "smoothing out" that seam with some generative fill. It's hit and miss at times, but after a few retries it produces something that works!

Love what you are doing with high school students. I also teach VP in high school and gearing up to expand into immersive education using VP and VR for other subjects such as history, design, science, etc. Curious about what you are using to create your dynamic shadow. Is that built into Jetset?
@LightcraftAcademy-xo3bf
@LightcraftAcademy-xo3bf Ай бұрын
Thanks so much! Actually the drop shadow is a stock effect within Final Cut. I like to "recomposite" in Final Cut to do some color fine-tuning on the green screen shot and the composite shot. The drop shadow can be adjusted in position, angle, opacity.

Excited for this. Can you share any and all specs that will help us determine just how high quality of a 3D environment a iPhone can handle? For example, max triangles/polycount? Max resolution? FPS? Dynamic or baked lighting? Would like to know what numbers we need to hit in order to desimate the full quality Unreal scene in order for it to be performant on the iPhone for the live composite preview

@@WhateverProduction4thanks for your helpful and very articulate reply. But don’t answer the question if you don’t read the question first. At no point does he say if 25fps can be chosen, either in the free or paid for version. Yes he talks about max resolution in the free version and shows the menu to select different settings, but no where is there reference to 25fps. Cheers for your excellent help though.
@WhateverProduction4

Your question didn’t say, “Can we record in 25fps?” It stated it asking “…at different frame rates such as…” then you used the example of 25fps. Meaning you weren’t being specific to that exact fps. He went into the settings that literally show you what fps options you have to choose from. Did you see 25fps? 🙃 Use your eyes, don’t be lazy.

@@WhateverProduction4 oh, bless. Someone got out of bed the wrong side. Did you hear him say what’s available in the paid version, did he reference anywhere else where the fps can be changed, is fps the same as resolution which is what he talks about at that point in the video? Once again I thank you for your ever so helpful and knowledgeable reply.
