I'm 55 year old spaniard, canarian, I saw him live in Tenerife while his time in Sevilla '92, already in his 30s but still full of magic. I first knew of him when he came with Argentina to play the Spain '82 world cup, everybody was talking about this new sensation, and that autumn he came to play in Barcelona F.C. In that world cup we still had Zico and Rummenige, Platini and Socrates playing, but man!! Diego was something else. The moment you saw him barely touching the ball, the first second you realized he was an absolute master, that impact happened to me also with a lesser degree with Ronaldo Nazario years later, Redondo, Zidane, Pirlo, Gascoigne, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Messi and many others. The thing is, I've seen Maradona in the 80s make moves and artistic things with the ball, specially his control of the ball in the air, between his legs, shoulders and head, while dribbling very aggresive opponents, that I've never seen those replicated before and after him. His technique was like Jimy Hendrix in the guitar, Mozart in Music composition, unparalleled. Only Pele and Maradona stand at the top of the summit, and I think Maradona was superior.

Cristiano is among the top football players of all time (no doubts between the best 5 in history alongside with Messi, Maradona, Pele and Cryuff, you can order them as you like but probably they would say Pelé Maradona and Messi top3 and Cryuff/Cristiano top 4-5 in any order as people tend to value the world cup the most, even tho a eurocup is basically a world cup without brazil ans argentina and Portugal was never a candidate since Eusebio's, and winning 3 champions leagues in a row as MVP is something IMO way harder, that wasn't done in over 50 years). Thing is that all of these have their own strenghts that made them to become the best of their era. In case of Pele it was the dominance of infinite resources of the game. All of the amazing plays and skills you watch today, Pele did it before. In case of Maradona he is BY FAR the player that had the highest skill and ball control. Ronaldinho is probably the second and Maradona when he was inspired was x10 times better at ball control. In case of Cryuff, it was his intelligence. He not only had a level of skills that are among the top of history but he knew where to go, and how to move to take benefit of just ANY rift the enemy teams opened. In the case of Messi, it's clearly his dribble and physical stamina. You can kick the guy the whole match and he still does a run at 85', dribbles 3 guys and scores an amazing goal. Now, when it comes about Cristiano, I'd say it's his mental strenght and prifessional atheltisism. Cristiano might not only be the most professional football player ever but one if not the best athlete ever. He not only got an amazing natural talent but he has polished his body to take benefit from that talent, with amazing strenght, durability, speed, fast reactions, definition, long distance shots, explosive jumps for headers. That's why he matches basically ANY team.

I’ve watched 1 or 2 interviews where Christiano says he’s the best. Strangely, I’m yet to come across a single instance where Messi says he’s the best,,,, yet he’s truly the greatest of all time
