I had invections a few time in my outer ear canal, which was normly resolved by antibiotics. However 2 yrs ago while equilizing on a dive, some water entered with air in my middle ear. Didn’t think much about it until an invection started. Man.., this time it was serious, and after 2 doctors , they revered me to a specialist who wanted me to go for a scan. I refused because I dont want my brain to be scaned unnecessary. I decided if we truly believed that God can heal us then this was the time to trust Him. My ear stated to heal slowly and I could just thank Him. Truely a miracle. Thankyou Lord

@RobAllenSpearfishing

Sorry, I have never dived with seals and do not know anyone who has suggested a way to prevent them from taking fish. Is this while fighting the fish or, off the stringer? One option is to take the fish out the water and put it in a float boat. There are many versions out there. Guys also use these to stop sharks eating their fish off their stringer.

@@RobAllenSpearfishing What do you think of just measuring average total dive hours for different types of gloves? The statistical analysis would be easy with some data. (I could do that for you.) For example if you had some people use each kind of glove and record (estimated) dive hours of each. Of course, more data is better.

@@quinnculver4336 Way too many variables to do it like this. I can dive 100 times and hardly damage the gloves but, on one dive where there is a bad sea with big surges and, the reef is covered in rough shells like oysters, mussels and or barnacles, the gloves can take a much greater beating on that one dive.

@RobAllenSpearfishing

Roller guns work best with a 7mm or 7,5mm spear on a rail barrel. You would be changing everything but the handle. Better to keep the Scorpia as a 2nd gun and buy a roller to what ever set up you want.

Hey Rob, I love the design and really appreciate the energy you put into R&D and innovation for spear fishing. A story for context and a couple of questions regarding drop barbs, today we had two >80kg tuna (southern bluefin) that we plugged with what we thought were good holding shots (one lateral line behind pectoral fin, grazed bone by the looks of the shaft. The other top down, behind the head, went in deep) Both fish ran, got pulled in a bit (the first one almost to where we could have gotten a second shot in) then ran again hard, drowning 2 35L 45psi floats, Then the barbs pulled out. Floats were on full bungee line, with at least 15m (at stretch) between first and second float. Both shafts came up bent, with no trace of damage to the dyneema. Any guesses what happened? Does this happen to other people? Could a longer length of dyneema on the toggle help? I use a double roller, if I make a long toggle, can I safely run it back to the line release I trust the system and have previously landed fish that I don’t think we could have on other setups. But we were surprised to lose both these and bend both 8mmshafts! Thanks again
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 18 күн бұрын
Hi Daniel, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I have heard of very few losses like this so, puzzling. You say the spear cam back bent with the Dyneema, was the drop barb still on? The fact the spears were bent, meant they were still in the body while the fish was pulling. So yes, a longer tether for these larger fish would be much better. In retro spec, 8mm spears will mostly be used on larger fish so we should have fit longer Dyneema tethers. We have only recently introduced these. Both the Dyneema tether and drop barb can hold up to 200kg. 2 x 35lt floats will go under at +- 70kg of tension but at speed, this will increase the load. My initial thoughts is that the spear, while still in the fish due to the depth it went and the short tether, acted as a leaver. Pending on where the pivot point was, it could easily have put 2 to 3 x the load. If the barb was still on it meant the load was sufficient to drag the drop barb through the flesh. Obviously the best is to get it through the fish and out the other side but... difficult on a big fish.

Im looking at reducing one of your 100cm rails to 90cm. From watching this i assume i cant push my original plug deeper into the barrel before cutting it shorter? We have propper hydraulic press at work for bearings that i could use. I was worried about the barrel exploding.. 😂 If not how do i get a new plug in the uk? Thanks Rob
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 19 күн бұрын
Pushing it further down is no problem, just do it while the handle is off. Once you have cut and set the plug, might be an idea to add a little sealant on top. The plug should not move without it but always better to be sure that water will not force its way past.

Assuming it is intended for bluewater use, Why not, 3*14 on 340-350% or 3 *16 mm 300% with an 8 mm shaft. No one is going to use 3 rubbers speargun for reef that two 14 mms can do with equal results. Btw, what a beautiful muzzle though ,❤👍👍 go buy a 120 cm carbon barreled RA speargun with that muzzle and two Shafts, a7 mm and an 8mms, 3x14 mm rubber, you'll get yourself a speargun for almost every occasion.
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 22 күн бұрын
You will be supersized just how many requests we have had for this 3 rubber muzzle with 12mm rubbers. There are many youngsters, some ladies and persons with shoulder issues who can't even load a 14mm rubber but can load a 12mm. The 12mm works fine on our standard guns up to a 7,5mm spear. The 8mm in our opinion is just too heavy and creates way too much recoil. The weight of an 8mm works best on a Timberline gun. Also, our ability to add buoyancy with the Timberline barrel helps massively to compensate for the 8mm spears mass. We have done test on all set ups and have no problem using 3 x 14mm on the Timberline with an 8mm spear.
@Gronky-sv5yp
@Gronky-sv5yp 21 күн бұрын
@@RobAllenSpearfishing That's a fair assesment 🫡👍👍, people really do wants different things from this muzzle. Some saw it as a way to help them ease their loading efforts. But to some, like me, adding this bad boy to a timberline gun might persuade me to buy one of the timberline series. I'm sorry Rob, but the timberline series are just too pricy for me 😂😅✌️✌️. I understand the added buoyancy and strength to that barrel, but to add a roller muzzle to that barrel seems redundant, why add something that already have little to no recoil to a timber-fortified carbon barrel? And why only stop at two rubber muzzle, even when we know that narrel can handle more power and recoil. This three banded muzzle is just what the timberline series needed. The possibilities of adjusting your setup to your environment without changing your muzzle is really impressive. No disrespect tho, just sharing my frustation😁

Great videos. I think the simplicity of the knot has to be considered, at least for me. Maybe I’m not good with knots. I’ve found the bowline to be good although according to this video maybe it will be good to burn a slightly larger “bulb” at the end to stop is from slipping in extreme cases

I do not think that in this particular case the "jumping muzzle" for the alu spear gun has much to do with weight distribution. The alu stock is less rigid than the carbon one. When under tension, the alu stock is bent. When released, the muzzle is jumping, first down and then up - in the slow mo it is obvious. The carbon stock is more rigid and does not bend as mush under same tension; therefore it jumps less.
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 27 күн бұрын
It is possible the different barrel flex plays a small part but, I'm positive the weight has the majority of the effect. It will be easy to compare, one day we will do the same test but with no lead in the carbon barrel.
