I'd say these shows have been in a garbage bin since 1975 and have rotted away

Imagine all those unknown actors thinking they'd struck gold by getting cast in a sitcom, only to fade ignominiously into oblivion thirteen short weeks later.... 😞

When Space: 1999 first appeared, the hype was tremendous, and of course there were TV critics who compared it to Star Trek. The Sunday newspaper (remember those?) had a TV listings booklet included, and a letters to the editor page inside. People were so enraged that other people said their choice of space show was better than theirs, they sat down and typed or hand wrote passionate letters detailing why their favorite space opera was better, then put them in a # 10 envelope, burned a stamp and mailed them. The letters page was inundated with “space race” letters and printed them for a while, then finally said no more space race letters, only other TV comments. I liked Star Trek better, so I watched it. Never felt strongly enough to break out the stationery and write a freakin’ essay about it, though. These were Internet pioneers to be sure. The Department S episode was “The Old Man Who Wouldn’t Run Sideways and Got Run Over by a 707,” and it was obviously the inspiration for Charlize Theron’s run from the Engineer ship in Prometheus.

I can see why they cancelled Freaks and Geeks now. It was cancelled because it was different from everything else on the air at the time.

Ahhh, the eighties. Why is every intro, theme song so inspirational? Cheesy and overtly commercialized? Thought the 70's were funky. Straight up hangover from ludes and coke. Grew up in the 70's-80's. No cable, cell phones or internet. Wake up, eat a bowl of sugar coated cereal or non-toasted Pop-tart. Play outside, ride my bike, or sports with neighborhood kids. Have total empathy for the youth of today. Turned into the old fuddy duddy I used to make fun of, go figure. 30 years from now and a kid says " life was so much easier pre-AI, have all the answers before knowing the question, wtf. The collective unconsciousness has shifted and a new awakening has begun. Time for the whipper snappers to grab the reigns and forge a new positive future. I'm only 52 but recall that same guteral intuition to be the catayst to make a positive influence in this earthly realm. "We can make a difference." We, us, are all connected for better, or worse and all that transpires. You have to believe to see, not see to believe . Sorry Yoda

GLITTER boasted ex-A-TEAMer Melinda Culea and a pair of erstwhile DALLAS cast members (Morgan Brittany and Timothy P Murphy) and FINDER OF LOST LOVES had former DYNASTY star Deborah Adair. Fun to see where people ended up. And nice to see ex-SOAPers Robert Mandan and Katherine Helmond found work. Good memories of a great year!

1993 was the final year FOX focused solely on entertainment. Next year in 1994, FOX expanded into SPORTS, starting with the NFC division of the NFL. FOX aimed to strengthen its broadcasting signal by acquiring VHF channels 2 through 13, which led to the New World deal, which took stations away from CBS, ABC, and NBC.

Top 30 shows of the 1971-72 season (US Nielsen ratings): 1 All in the Family 2 The Flip Wilson Show 3 Marcus Welby, M.D. 4 Gunsmoke 5 ABC Movie of the Week 6 Sanford and Son 7 Mannix 8 Funny Face 9 Adam-12 10 The Mary Tyler Moore Show 11 Here's Lucy 12 Hawaii Five-O 13 Medical Center 14 The NBC Mystery Movie 15 Ironside 16 The Partridge Family 17 The F.B.I. 18 The New Dick Van Dyke Show 19 The Wonderful World of Disney 20 Bonanza 21 The Mod Squad 22 Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In 23 The Carol Burnett Show 24 The Doris Day Show 25 Monday Night Football 26 ABC Sunday Movie 27 The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour 28 Room 222 29 Cannon CBS 30 CBS Friday Movie I was 7-8 years old, so All in the Family wasn't much fun, although my parents made a weekly event out of it and laughed their asses off (annoying). We only got two of the three network channels, so anything on CBS was a zero. Not much on the list for a kid my age, maybe Adam-12, The Partridge Family, or Sonny & Cher. TV-wise I was more into after school reruns of Gilligan's Island, Leave It To Beaver, Speed Racer, etc. and Star Trek on Sunday evenings which interrupted 6pm dinner time. Of course there no VCRs yet so you had to make due with whatever the networks fed you, and if you wanted to see a current movie you had to get Mom to take you to the theater, preferably to drop you off with your friends and pick you up afterwards. No cellphones, no internet, no social network. If you wanted to talk to your friends you sat on the floor under the dining room table and used the one and only rotary dial land line phone with its twisty cable, with Mom repeatedly nagging you to "get off the phone".

They could have all been bad, I don't remember any of them, but sometimes it just takes a lucky break for a show to catch on. Many hits were on the chopping block but hung on long enough to find an audience.
