We were there for two months Jan to March 2024. It is not lifestyle for us. Just for vacay. Sure your almighty dollars$$$ goes a long way but we still cannot exchange that for quality of life and healthcare here US🤗. Plus my kids and grandkids are here in US. We would rather be partime resident of Italy instead. Grazie

Yes and No... in some area like provinces the cost of living is low. But if you live in big cities like Manila, Cebu city etc. of course expect your dollars will not go a long way.

My sis-in-law has dual citizenship...she just left US on an emergency leave and she showed both US and Phil. passports but only her Phil. passport was stamped. Will she have problems coming back to the US in 3 weeks when she shows both passports?

Philippines doesn’t allow the us citizens to have duel citizenship so the US should pass that law that bans duel citizenship. I’m a firm believer whatever law that a country puts on US citizens in their country the same should be done to that countries citizens in the US. My sad experience with PAL just recently PR894 - June 2, 2024, I asked for "kumot" (blanket) because I feel cold that particular waitress replied me that they only have 20% and all was given to 1st class. What I did is just used my bag pack with laptop inside and used it to cover my knees. Food was not good but no issue about that if that's all they can supply us. But the service of that waitresses didn't use her coconut head that there is some kumot at 1st class that not using and could hand over to people who are very cold at the back. These waitresses are not offering good service not using their coconut empty brain. I will not use PAL it was really PAL PAK AIRLINE.

I’m now retired and living in Canada for the past 50 years. I’ve always wondered how it be to retire back home. I’ve heard a lot of pros and cons on retiring back home and you have been very helpful and informative. You’re right, it is a beautiful country when you’re on vacation mode. But to permanently live there, not sure about that. I think I’ll just settle for going on short trips every once in a while and come back to Canada when vacation is done. About a decade or so ago, I noticed the cultural changes happening sa Pinas. Tendency to lighten the skin (Shoe Mart has an aisle dedicated to skin lightening products), celebrities looking more like Chinese mestizo/mestiza. They speak fluent Tagalog but it’s the look that is changing. I mentioned this to my Pinoy friends. Told them: China does not do short term goal, they have hundred year plans. Fast forward to today, it’s coming to fruition. The history of the Philippines is a history of colonization. From Spain, to America, to Japan, back to America, now maybe China. God Bless the Philippines, and I hope they don’t lose their identity.
