I thought you were going to instruct bass wire changers to TWIST the wire in the direction of the winding to keep it from getting loose windings later. Critical!!

It looks like they glued the two pieces back together and tried to use the metal wire to clamp it together until it dried. But the glue work failed for some reason. It should have been a very easy repair if the person knew what he was doing.

When I was 11 years old (I’m 75 now) my grandmother bought me a brand new Wurlitzer what they an apt size it was short one octive in mahagony and it had a beautiful sound I had it till I was married n expecting my first baby my grandmother said if I would this piano to my sister she would buy me the console Wurlitzer I saw in a piano store of course I agreed n we went over to the huge Wurlitzer place in Phila Pa cause they were having a big close out sale n I got piano I saw n it was $1800 n my grandmother paid $1400 I was thrilled I had it for a very long time but when I moved in with my daughter n family there wasn’t room so I sold it luckily to a friend when I was able I bought myself a Roland didgital piano in a black finish case has three pedals with bench n I’m perfectly happy with it plus no tunings twice a year but I still do miss that first Wurlitzer so that’s my history with Wurlitzer 🙋🏼‍♀️Pamela

So, you don't need to replace the soring rail felt when doing this?
@PianoWrench
@PianoWrench 10 ай бұрын
You would do that when restoring a piano, but for a repair such as this, you don't need to especially when the felt is still in very good condition.

Can you show a secondary video of how you reinsert the hammer and screw it in well? I am having difficulty with the hammer jacks being in the way while trying to screw it in ( I did get a jack wedge but I am thinking I am not using it correctly). When I try to screw the flange back in, I am met with a lot of resistance with the screw. Any tips of how to best hold the flange while screwing it back in, nad getting the jack to be out of the way would be appreciated!
@PianoWrench
@PianoWrench Жыл бұрын
You probably have it figured out by now. When inserting the hammer, press down on the heel of the jack so that it can move away from the screw. Also, make sure not to cross-thread the screw. Yamaha actions use aluminum rails and it's easy to do so, unfortunately.
@IcePeak99
@IcePeak99 Жыл бұрын
Oh my... No way I would do that to any of my customer's piano. I would just suggest them to buy a new piano or to do a complete piano reconditioning and action parts replacement. Who would want to have a moldy piano in their living room? You can only remove some of the VISIBLE mold, you can never get rid of the rest.
@PianoWrench
@PianoWrench Жыл бұрын
You would be surprised how many people wouldn't mind having a moldy piano at their home. I have dozens of clients with moldy pianos who only want them tuned. Out of sight out of mind as the saying goes.

Ultrasonic Cleaning: Has anyone tried? Put a loop in the bath and flex it back and forth then work the loop up the entire length of the string. Ultrasonic cleaner typically makes dirt "explode" out of things, eyeglass frames for instance.
