The museum at 4:27 used to be the post office. They built a new one and as a paperboy, I used to pick up 50 copies of the Sunday Oklahoman at the PO dock there and deliver them to local stores. 25 cents a copy and I got 15 cents for every copy sold.

50k? hahahahahaha I love the comments. I drove a cab there for a good decade off and on. It's absolutely drugged out. More dangerous than 95.7% of US cities and towns. I saw and heard things driving that cab you wouldn't believe. I saw Many young people get lost to drugs... But keep telling yourselves its a wonderful place. Ever seen someone give a sermon from a piece of cardboard to a tree? I have. Right there in Independence. It's a daily thing. Or how about a trans person taking a water bottle shower buck naked in the middle of the street? Yep. Independence. Wanna know something funny? I make more delivering Pizza's in the mountains of New Mexico than base level Cessna workers in Independence. Let me be clear, I make more delivering f'n pizzas than an individual assembling aircraft parts and the planes themselves. BTW a warning given to me by a local when I first started in the cab business: If you're out in the woods and you hear a dog barking, turn around and leave because the next sound may be a dope cook racking a round into a shotgun.

Excellent. Love love the narration explaining in detail what road you were on, the attractions etc. A lot of detail. Local chamber of commerce in small towns should use such an approach.

At 01:26 the restaurant on the right is called The Rainbow Cafe. They have the best fried pickle spears I have even eaten. That whole town is so much fun.

Be aware that The Rainbow used to require cash or personal checks only -- no credit cards, though that policy may have changed. Great "down home" cookin', but not cheap. Will definitely try Bushel and a Peck next time -- thanks for the recommendation.

So many AMAZING memories in Independence!! My family was from there!! Spent many many many holidays and weekends there as a kid!! My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.. Infact, my uncle was a dentist there, his office was downtown right on the parade route, we would go in and warm up, if we got too cold watching the parade!! Loved the zoo/park!! Independence will ALWAYS be near and dear to my heart!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

To everyone who was from here and future citizens...the Independence area is a wonderful place to raise a family. A great place to start a business or reinvent yourself if you have a skill talent or a will to work. Independence has a beautiful park, zoo, ball fields for the kids, a dog park, updated schools, a community college, and we are only 50 miles from a four yr college. Best of all today we are insulated from the craziness of the coasts. A beautiful place to raise a family! Several of our businesses like Arco Oil have left. Some the victims of outsourcing in the past decades. We could use more skilled businesses like plumbers, electricians, builders, downtown businesses, car repair, auto restorers, doctors, building restorers, housing upkeep. We would welcome industries that could employ our capable citizens. If you are tired of the craziness that has plagued parts of our country.....we welcome you.

I spent time in Butte as a youth and had quite a few relatives there and still do. One summer on vacation there we rented Wm. Clark's master suite at the mansion to celebrate my wife's birthday, I don't know if they do that anymore. The hostess was a descendant of his and served a great breakfast. The bus tour you mentioned was very good and entertaining which we took just a few years ago. If anyone from Butte reads this my cousin was Ed Yeo. who is very well known in Butte.
