What is MCT oil?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ 4 ай бұрын
MCT oil is refined Coconut oil that isolates the medium chain tryglycerides (MCTs). These have been shown to be a clean form of energy, particularly for those following a keto diet. If you are not on a keto diet, the benefits are limited.

My chasen is breaking while whisking even though I soak it in water before use, do you know why?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ 4 ай бұрын
Hi there, a great question with a few possibilities - how old is the whisk? As it is made from natural bamboo, it will age and become brittle over time. We drink matcha 4 times a day, everyday and get about 5 - 6 months use before replacing our whisk.

Some of the tines of my chasen got burn a little bit by being exposed to a high temperature, what would you recommend me to do in order to save it? Thanks!

Burned? Mmmmm...your water should be ~ 80°c when making matcha. How did you burn them? Potentially time to get a new whisk.

Why are my whisk's tines not fully unfurled, and would it affect much with the whisking experience?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ Жыл бұрын
Hi there, did you soak your whisk for 10 min prior to use in hot water? Normally this action will result in the centre tines loosening. The result of an unfurled whisk is a better texture. You could soak your whisk again and then gentle separate the tines with your fingers. 🙂

Hi. New subscriber here. very helpful video. 😊 I have a question though. Is this hot water cleaning method the same when cleaning the chashaku?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ Жыл бұрын
Great question - we only use hot water to wash our chashaku too. This is because it is made with natural bamboo. As with cleaning your chasen, it is important to make sure it is kept dry.
@chumjamero8214
@chumjamero8214 Жыл бұрын
@@wabiNZ thank you so much for your reply. I just want to clarify though, there is no need to soak the chashaku in hot water for 10 mins right? Just pour a hot water is enough?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ Жыл бұрын
You only need to soak the chasen prior to the first use. Thereafter, simply rinsing it under hot water is enough to keep it clean.

Should I prepare the whisk and also clean it in boiling hot water or just hot tap water?
@wabiNZ

We use hot water (~90°c) for preparing the whisk; thereafter, using hot tap water is fine for cleaning. Happy Whisking 😊

Why no detergent or antibacterial dish washing liquid?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, as you are only whisking tea powder in hot water, there is no need to use detergent - simply whisking in a bowl of hot water or placing under a running tap, will suffice at keeping it clean. As the whisk is made from dried bamboo, it potentially might absorb the flavours & scent of the detergent. From our experience, we recommend just using water. Matcha love, The Wabi Team

I have actually read many sources that say the curls in the prongs are important for creating that smooth texture of matcha tea! That it helps in aeration while you whisk, and you should try to preserve the curls as long as you can. Of course, soaking beforehand for up to a minute before each use (to soften&strengthen bamboo). What is the benefit of getting rid of those fine curls?
@wabiNZ
@wabiNZ 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your message - when you first receive the whisk, the centre will be very tightly bound together - soaking will release prongs. To keep your whisk in good shape, it is recommended to store it on a holder - this will allow the prongs to have a slight curl and will help form beautiful matcha. Also, some whisks are bound together using glue, so soaking will remove this. Hope this helps 🤗
