There is the sound of a Spitfire regularly around here, stirring sound. As a child, there were lots of "Bombsites" in London. Parents were evacuated, to Devon and Derbyshire. They still witnessed German attacks. In an Evacuees reunion, there was a Spitfire flypast, "Don't worry, that's one of ours!". My Father-in-law said he was 18 (actually 16), joined the RAF, I still have his flight logbook, it's chilling, as most of his friends didn't come back. Churchill's speeches are very compelling.

The British laws against slavery were achieved by a coalition of people with different motives. While the majority of supporters were morally opposed to slavery, others supported it because they thought the abolition would hinder France and Spain more than it did the UK and others were persuaded by the fact that British slaveowners would be compensated and would not then be able to sue if the political opinions changed back in favour of slavery. Given that no other nation was opposing the slave trade it was not impossible that Britain would outlaw it and then be left behind by countries that were still prospering using slave labour people had to be persuaded to pass the acts. However slavery in one form or another is still with us see this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nMCKgbdo25aZfX0.html

You might be interested to know that the British war with the Zulu was started by Zulu capturing women from the native tribes of South africa.. Most people here still find the idea of slavery abhorrent behind beyond words. There is no circumstance in which owning a human being in acceptable. No one begrudged paying off a debt for over a century to end this. Britain ended the international.slave trade. But the battle is far from over.

While I don’t know for sure but at about That William the conqueror put that law in place he had heavily depopulated much of the country in putting down rebellions so there was a severe shortage of labour in the country so this law was to discourage the export of slaves from the country where they were badly needed ( pretty much similar to what happened after the Black Death did much later where the land owners had to Poach there in force from their neighbours estates with bribes )

I think it is simple, the God of America is the Dollar, and the Gun Lobby has bought it power. Every time there is a massacre they sell more guns. So why not p8blish the names of the Directors and major share holders of the gun manufacturers and see how strong they are with the disinfection of sunlight.

The only reason those British stopped International Slave-Trading was a lack of "New World" to exploit and Colonize. So, those same British along with fellow CAUCASIAN European Imperialistic Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain endeavored "The Scramble for Africa."

The RAF did not save the world. The Battle of Britain was not the battle that defeated Germany. It was not just the RAF either - 500 of the pilots were not two of the squadrons were from the Royal Navy. The Battle of Britain was important but the Royal Navy never lost control of the English Channel and German troop carrying vessels would have failed, for the most part to reach our shores. 1940 was a dangerous low point and Churchill was right to try to inspire the people of Britain. The war was 1939-1945 not just 1940.

In britain we were still paying the debt of slavery well into the 2000s . Though the commentator said the government probably did it for different reasons but the people believed in it and were proud of the fight britain made against slavery.

The British Government almost bankrupted itself to stop the Slave trade. You need to remember this. Britain was brought to it’s knees to stop the slave trade. BLM. Kiss my arse. Black Americans need to learn their history, wake up and, smell the coffee.

When Britain ended slavery in her Empire she was able to do it relatively smoothly by compensating the slave owners for their loss of property. Might sound bad but it avoided conflict and kept production moving. It cost - at the time - £20 million, a loan we finished paying off in 2015.

Hypnotherapy works Neal. Get it before going to Australia and you will be fine when it comes to meeting up with a spider.
@dee-smart2 сағат бұрын
I live in Adelaide, South Australia. I have NEVER seen a huntsman spider as big as the ones that come up on youtube. I see Daddy Long Legs which are big but very very thin legged and not menacing at all. Inside I am more likely to come across one no bigger than an inch but you know what? I am shit scared of those small ones. I kill them straight away. Why? They are more likely to harm you. They are not redbacks, but unless you are a good identifier of different species, I consider them dangerous. Outside more likely to come across redbacks which are very small with a red spot on them. If you are an Aussie, you just know to take preventative measures and not put your hand in crevices like when you are moving your bin and maybe the binman left the lid open and there has been rain, so you plan to topple over the bin to get the water out - don't just put your fingers in the crevices around the side or touch the base area without checking. That is the sort of thing we do all the time. Snakes? I have only seen one in my lifetime not that far away from where I live which borders suburban Adelaide and is the beginning of rural - and I am 64!!! So don't worry about those things. It is like saying to an Aussie that they are going to run into bears all over America. It is just a scare tactic.

Those people saying just because African people had slaves so we shouldn't get reparations the Chinese had Chinese slaves but yet Chinese gotten 2, 500 each back then two thousand and five hundred was a lot of money when ur intire family getting that amount so why we shouldn't have reparations even Natives had slaves and right today in 2024 Natives people still getting free homes and monthly cash and every 2 yrs they get a lump some of 2, 500 soooo why shouldn't African Americans get their Reparations?? And I heard that the British helped the Federal and European to gather up African for slavery AND British people brutalized the Australian people they was identical to the slave owners in the United States the Australian suffering worse than we are in 2024 smh..

3:34 yet for them at that time, "being african" or "being european" was never a thing, since the concept of continents (introduced by some french guy who used the latin word for "continuous" or "to contain") were not known to folks before the discovery of the americas & australia. So to any tribe wherever on earth or whatever amount of melanine or "squintness" of peoples eyes (that a word? lol) most neighbours were just "those dicks across them mountains who speaks weirdly and prays to those weird gods, doing who-knows-what" 🙃

seriously, you don't want to 'rock with' Willian the Conqueror - the man was horrible. Yes he did sanction the sale of people from outside his country, but we do know his motives and they were because he viewed EVERYONE in the country as belonging to him, lol. That's why the punishment would be a fine - if you're going to sell 1 of William's subjects, well he'll take the money for it as you don't own that subject, he does. Also, the African rulers, mostly, weren't enslaving 'their own people', they were enslaving their enemies mostly. That is why they held it in such esteem - it was not just reducing your enemy to nothing, but reducing them into your service. Thing is, over time, the more powerful those rulers became, the further they would have to go to find slaves, which meant venturing deeper into Africa to find tribes that could be conquered. Tribes who, otherwise, would've been not threat to them. They still wouldn't have seen those people as "their own", it doesn't matter that they were also 'African', Africa is just a continent.

You have to remember that Africa was not a united country, and still isn't. It's a continent with many countries. Back then it was tribes who fought each other and whoever was the strongest defeated the weaker and took slaves. Once Britain took control of Africa the slave trade was dismantled and law and order was put in place. It wasn't perfect because Africa is a massive continent to police. As soon as the British left they reverted back to their ssvage ways. It takes a civilised people to build a civilisation. 🖖🏽❤🇬🇧
