Solid build. That dash looks really nice though, it would look even better in my opinion if you got a plate that goes around the cluster, that covers all the wiring 👍

Thank you! I know what you mean but I actually kind of like the wiring there. Its the only place in the bike where the new harness is visible and I'm very proud of my new harness so I don't really want to cover it up. :)

Awesome project, very nice improvements. I'm competitively racing my MC22 here in California and would be fond of a Ohlins shock. May I please ask for any info you have on your Ohlins shock to get my suspension builder started. There should be a number on the shock body, or any pictures of it before it went on the bike. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks
@twillinger
@twillinger Жыл бұрын
A bit late I know sorry! The shock is a S46HR1C1 base. The key thing is that the top mount cannot be aluminium as there isn't the clearance to the frame for an aluminium top mount. Really, I just dropped the bike into the local Ohlins dealer and left them to spec and manufacture the shock how they saw fit. Hopefully you get sorted with yours!

Hi, doing a 600RR 2007 front end conversation to the mc22 and was wondering the dimensions required for the triple clamp stem did u have to fab one? Cheers
@twillinger
@twillinger Жыл бұрын
Hi. The only parts I fabbed were the wheel spacers. Everything else fitted with different sized bearings. The top stem bearing was special as the standard size is a bespoke Honda size so I needed to find something with the ID of the Suzuki stem and the OD of the Honda bearing. I did have to cut away part of the nose fairing and false air ducts to give some clearance. More details and photos of the conversion in this forum post: www.cbr250.com/threads/project-cbr250rri.7307/post-294714.

@@twillingeryep just finished the whole process, works great, just needs about 5mm more steering angle to clear the handle bar lock. I’m really interested now in potentially designing a new airbox that uses the ram air ducts on the sides of the fairings but I’m not sure if I should stick with using carbs and if that will work well enough, or take the weight penalty and try and make a EFI system based of yours for it. Should definitely help top speed power with that extra 1psi of air pressure 🤣

Hey Thomas. I'm in the process of buying an mc22. Dont know anything about motorbikes to be honest. it'll be my first bike. Picking it up from a lad in meath in a few months but its in bits. You clearly have incredibly intimate knowledge of these bikes. Can you give me some pointers on reading material or resources to allow me to educate myself?

Greetings. On my mc19, the compression is coming to an end, now the compression is from 8 to 9 atmospheres. Tell the guys where you can buy a piston group, rings and more. I saw that they sell Aliexpress on the Chinese site, I understand that this is not Japan, but even so, someone may have experience, for what mileage such spare parts are enough. Thank you.

A friend who is an Automotive Engineer & motorcycle mechanic got his Tyga MC22 running on Microsquirt in a matter of weeks about 18 months ago with great success using measurement & mathematics & did cylinder head work & machining to make it optimal for 98 octane unleaded , increased compression ratio modifications were done . We increased valve lift slightly . Race grade top of engine parts were made / used & he raised the rev limit by 2,000 RPM above the factory benchmark which our oscilliscope told us was 16,900 RPM before work began . We had a power increase of about 16-18 % . The friend has completed a second one during Covid lockdown as he had spare time & had extra sets of parts he made & purchased on standby beforehand from the first motorcycle which allowed him to convert my companion rider ( track ) MC22 to the same configuration as his in two days as he knew the procedures .The dyno test was the same for this bike also . He will be doing this to a Yamaha FZR 250 in two weeks .Parts are already prepared & I will ride the converted Yamaha on my birthday soon at the track alongside him riding my Tyga .I am sure the bikes will be fun to compare . I personally like the Yamaha FZR engine sound as it is more raw than the Honda , that has all it's gear driven cam harmonics which cause me back pain after a while riding it . The Yamaha does have EXUP valve installed . I loved doing the first prototype Tyga EFI conversion last year with my friend . It helped strengthen our friendshp &:it was fun & I learned a lot .

The Yamaha FZR 250 3LN1 was converted to 98 octane fuel optimised configuration but with standard grade new engine components with the EFI conversion & the Microsquirt system applied . Compression ratio was raised from 12.0 to 1 TO 13.5 to 1 . The same as the two MC22's . I will ride this set-up on Monday 11th April . We have acquired a second FZR 250 3LN1 which is white & light blue which we will refurbish so that I can use it for private transport . It will be handed to me on my next birthday . A cylinder head had to be made up overseas & sent here for some machining to achieve the compression ratio change . The same had to be done for the MC22 Tyga's . This was the reverse of the changes from earlier 1990's MC22 models to the watered down 'R' series of 1994 . The black 3LN1 was upgraded , the white & light blue one for my private use will be close to standard with minor refinements only .

WOW. I put my MC19 in storage before leaving to go overseas for 6 months... 14 years ago. I'm now planning on heading home permanently early next year and had started to think about what customisations I'd like to make to it (assuming I can get it going and back on the road, of course). You've done everything I had in mind plus a whole lot more! Your blog looks like an incredible resource which should save me from an awful lot of head scratching, so thank you!

Hi. I'd love to have a read of that blog if you have a link to it? Always interested in different people's approach to problems. For sure, the bike seems to have taken to the modification very well and I will certainly not be reverting it back to carbs any time in its lifetime. I have so much more control over the engine and the datalogging capability of the ECU really helps with understanding what is going on.
