I didn't have the patience to read the comments before me, but I'm pretty sure someone will have already said it: wings whether mayfly or sedge should be light and flexible. In this case I am afraid they are very stiff and do not allow air to pass through with the result that if you use a thin tippet, rotation is inevitable and you get a tangle. Not a good idea. I'll avoid epoxy anyway
@Thefeatherbender14 сағат бұрын
Hi Bonefish, this is not a fishing fly, it's a technique for this style of wing that a subscriber asked me to demonstrate, theres more to fishing than catching fish....

Mr. Clarke, after trying this one several times I've found that a lice comb (no, I don't have a lice problem) is genius for running the deer hair parallel. For larger flies of this sort I use a moustache comb.

Great fly, was at a lake over the weekend and couldnt figure out what the fish were taking, I had my suspicions and when i looked up a video of trout taking damsels it was very simular to what i was seeing, I have only started tying my own flies and was wondering where can you get the dyed blue hackle and is it a cape hackle or saddle.

@@Thefeatherbender thanks, I never fished or tied these flies yet I like the look and will likely tie some. I’m trying to only tie the flies I’ll actually fish though. I prefer 100 of the same fly that I know I’ll catch on rather than 100 different flies and take my chance… I fish Klinks a lot and this is a variant of that at least it looks to me to be.

Ich liebe diese Maifliegen. Ich habe aber das große Problem das sich das Tippet immer verdrallt. Wie kann man das lösen?
@ThefeatherbenderАй бұрын
If you are having problems with your tippet twisting, you are using too fine a tippet it has to be thicker!
@DavorHasanovic-id4gkАй бұрын
Ich fische 0.14mm und muss so fein fischen, da ich sehr viel an Seen fische und die Forellen die Maifliege nich direkt nehmen sondern erst vorher begutachten
