You don't get 49mpg, it's rated at 49mpge, MPGe is not mpg or anything close to it, it's a nonsensical government calculation. The 4xe is great if you can plug it in and the vast majority of your driving are less than 21 mile round trips, that's it in a nutshell. It also has insane power when the gas engine is running, but it's also amazing on electric only, the vast majority of my trips are electric only driving, I do about 1,000 km ⚡ and about 60km with the gas engine running. It's always a hybrid but you will not get anything like 49mpg or anything close to it, the key is charging so you don't use the gas engine, especially in expensive places like Toronto where gas is $6+ a gallon. I have a jeep liberty 2007 and I remember seeing a video saying that you can move a fuse over one spot to convert your back power port from a key-in port to a always-on port. The problem is my front cigarette lighter port and the back port always have power and if I leave my fm broadcaster plugged in the front, it will kill the battery, so if anyone can tell me how to convert it back into a key-in port, that would be cool.

You don't need to remove that bottom locking retainer from the rear flap. leave it on and continue to disassemble. that's where your thumbs down are coming from.

I keep a air compressor in one and a tow strap, rachet straps and shackles in the other. Looks alot better than being under my seat.

I have seen this tailgate up close and was really impressed I would definitely want to pay the extra “$995” that the build and price shows on the website…. Now for my Constructive Criticisms…. WHY WHY ??? isn’t this offered on all the models down to the very basic “TRADESMAN” model ??? And without having to purchase other packages ???? Naturally a factory spray on bed liner is a no brainer 🧠 The Chevy Silverado’s in the bare bones “WT” can be ordered with the weird multi-flex tail gate !!!! There are so many Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC Wholesale supply houses thru out the United States that purchase Bare bones Ford F-150 “XL” models or bare bones Chevy “WT” Silverado’s very very if any purchase bare bones Ram 1500 Tradesman’s ….. This tailgate as a “SEPERATE” option available on all the Rams down to the bare bones Tradesman would be a brilliant move that should be made available immediately it would be a big hit with fleet managers !!! I really hope my comments are read by some big shot in the Ram corporation up the chain of command I currently drive a 2022 Jeep Gladiator I really like the Ram 1500 in the Tradesman Package I will not pay the insane prices for a Luxury Truck I would Gladly purchase A Tradesman with the “IMPORTANT” options from factory as follows…. It can “Allegedly” tow 37,000lbs --- wait for it -- without transmission fails -- error codes -- chassis flex and damage I’ll stick to a late 90’s F350 King Ranch with a few engine upgrades to continue hauling 35,000-39,000lbs without breaking the bank and feeling good about being able to make it home.

The Gladiator name is an old one in Jeep lore, being their full sized truck for many years, before it was renamed to the J-Series, and this Gladiator is evocative of the old CJ-8 Scrambler truck. I just wish they would make a 2 door model, with a longer bed, like those older Jeep trucks. If you don't have a family, a longer bed is more useful than a back seat.

Better question, why buy a Jeep Gladiator? My reason...I had wanted my first new car to be six cylinders with a manual transmission. At the time of purchase, there were no new model noncommercial vehicles on the market with those specifications. Twenty years later, I bought a Gladiator...and still had to argue with annoying little kid sales persons that, "No, I'm not going to change my mind about the transmission type."
