@@Ahuntsicspotter I went LAX-JFK-AMS. I flew on points with Delta in Delta One and they do not offer direct service from LAX to AMS. Upside is it allowed me to check out the new Delta One Lounge at JFK. All things considered it was a great trip.

@@Ahuntsicspotter on the way back we took Delta again and went LHR-JFK-LAX. We did however fly KLM from AMS-VCE and then we flew KLM again from VCE-AMS-LCY. We would have loved to take KLM direct to LAX it would have saved us a lot of time but with points we were limited to what we could do.

Wow, we always used 1R to depart, never landed on 19L. Of course, the same runway in opposite directions. You fine video makes me wish I were on that plane now! Thanks so much for no silly narrative and keeping the camera steady. Good to hear ATC, too.

Fantastic video. I must have flown in from Tokyo the same day because we made the same landing on our ANA flight. Born, raised and lived my whole life in the Bay Area and had never experienced this landing before that day. I’ve experienced taking off in the “opposite” direction on the main approach runways and that’s a hoot since it’s always in poor weather and for trips to Asia, you get to make a big swooping u-turn and that’s fun if you’re on the correct side of the plane.

When I flew out of LAX some years back, we went right over the Long Beach area. I could look out the window, and see the Queen Mary down below. It was amazing.

Its pretty normal, the last 1000 ft pilots fly by themselves if possible. So they disconnect the auto-pilot then which still gives out the alert.

If you look at Pacifica looks like strong south swell pushing north from Linda Mar to Rockaway, which could account for wind direction hence landing 19L. This is highly unusual as Pacifica (and the rest of the SF coast) gets NW swell 99% of the year.
