Theo, great talk. it's poignant how children trust that the intentions of AI and robots are simply tools "to make our lives better". We should always remember this wisdom from children. As an adult, I agree that we should see robots as an opportunity to help us and free us to do other creative things rather than be afraid of the change. However, I was struggling to reconcile this with the economic argument of a warehouse in China ( or anywhere ) which can run more efficiently without humans and who consequently discard their workers in the name of efficiency. If increasingly robots and AI takeover automated tasks , surely there needs to be a framework to serve humans, otherwise humans will be discarded and we will forget who we are here to serve. There are whole societies and livelihoods which could potentially be decimated in decades (as you mentioned in your talk) if we simply see human workers as an inefficient resource to be replaced by machines. The 4th Industrial revolution is a unique opportunity for businesses to see robots as assisting their human workers and be creative in retraining and redeploying them in other parts of the business. If the warehouse is producing items a 100 times faster surely they will need humans to oversee operations or oversee the reports and analytics. If a robot can assist a surgeon then surely it means that the surgeon is not as pressured and has a better work life balance and can give the patient more human contact? Truck drivers could be retrained to service autonomous trucks, monitor the routes being taken in real-time, or monitor the tech. What businesses and society need to realise is that ultimately, we as humans and society and economics are all interconnected in this global world. How else are customers going to pay for their products if their customers on the other side of the world are unemployed due to being laid off by more efficient robots? My hope is that these efficiency savings will give businesses some bandwidth and sense of duty to create alternative jobs. Yes - human employees will be freed from mundane tasks - but this needs to be balanced by creating jobs for humans who will eventually be paying for these goods - otherwise businesses will end up with no customers and they will be wondering what this all about. So it is in their interests and society to start thinking about the evolution of work. As children say, ultimately this tech is there to benefit society- so this tech should be used to invest in the growth of humans beings and that should always be the ultimate goal.

Sorry I don't understand how we can be technically sure that a sensor uploads truthy data into the IOTA DAG.

But you can find that out at the end of the supply chain if one of your factory workers finally verifies if everything is as in the ledger. If not, you know your supplier fools you and you can hold him accountable for it.

Let me be the first to say, "this is THE best synopsis of Iot and IIot that I have ever encountered!" I come from the left side of the page and have a number of years in the Control Systems Integration industry, but have been semi-retired for a while and have maybe lost touch with what is going on out there in the big bad world. Now I know that I can still be relevant. I just need to learn a bunch of new acronyms then map them on to the old ones. A dash of salt and pepper. Good-to-go!

Fully agree with Mr. Raschke. One question though: What are the next steps to establish this new culture in a company? Many important people are showing slides, that slides are not the way to communicate. That we have to change the culture. But how can each employee participate today on this movement? Starting with "why" is essential, but als the "how" is important.
