I'm just hoping that Midland might one day update their portable ER E+READY line of products to include: - S.A.M.E. technology - a home/travelling mode like the HH54 - language option (like the WR products)

That would be nice... The portable Eton - Sidekick AM/FM/NOAA Radio has S.A.M.E Technology
@ericdery7238
@ericdery7238 5 күн бұрын
@@LoneStarPrepping Yeah, at first glance I do like the design of the Sidekick in general (SAME, crank, solar, AM/FM, bluetooth, etc). But the form factor is pretty big, knobs/buttons are weirdly placed, but most annoying thing is the non replaceable battery. We all know what happen to an internal battery over the years... An ER310 with S.A.M.E. would be nearly perfect for an all-in-one solution at home and while travelling.

@@LoneStarPrepping Just if anyone is wondering, I've actually sent an email to Midland about it. They replied the following: "We do not foresee having portable radios with S.A.M.E. technology in our ER E+READY product lineup. The benefit of these on-the-go emergency radios is that you receive local weather at the press of a button, no matter where in the United States you travel, with no programming needed".

I grew up in communism in Romania. You can live with no electricity. You do need water and a roof over your head and a couple of oil lamps for light and a bit of heat. We had natural gas at the stove/cooking range and we used it to heat water to wash ourselves and also to keep warm. Books are great. People need to focus on the basics if the SHTF. We lived in an apartment. Every fall we stocked up with potatoes and cabbage and carrots etc, whatever we could find, mom canned whatever she could. Candles are great, stock up on matches.

Thank you for your comment. People are way too dependent on power. If you watch my other video about how to survive an emp, you will see a complete different picture. It will not be the way you describe here in the USA until after maybe 75% or so the population dies, in my opinion.

The easiest way to protect your electrical Device is line your faraday cage with foam Rubber. No matter what a EMP charge isn't going to effect what is inside. Just Remember to put it in the bottom and top also. or you can just wrap your device in foam Rubber and that will also work. Just use some good tape and make sure there is no gaps. you don't need to spend a lot of money. Foam Rubber is cheap.

@@bobandrews-vo9wy The easiest way is to do it the way I show here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d616nKer1pqXmWQ.htmlsi=8RfOocvDFTzUxAqI Foam works as well and so does cardboard. All you are doing is insulating items that have metal on the outside from touching the can inside. My way is easier and simpler.

I just got an EcoFlow delta 2 since it’s powerful enough to run the majority of creature comforts without power for a while before having to pull out the Honda EU2000. In testing it I found that at full speed charging (1200 watts) after running for a few minutes, the battery will stop charging….wait a little and then start charging for like 30 seconds, then stop, then start again over and over. My only thought is that that unit didn’t like the AC output from my generator…it’s supposed to be a pure sine wave…hmm. When I lower the setting on the EcoFlow to 1000 watt charging or lower it charges continuously with no issues. I may reach out to EcoFlow for feedback.

Thank you, this is the exact video I'm looking for. Hurrican Beryl knocked out power for almost a week, now I need a power outage solution for next time. My apartment does not allow generators so my only solution would be a battery bank with solar like your setup. I'm going to get the Delta 2 Max+battery, this will give me 4,000Wh battery, 2400W (4800W surge) rated, Delta 2 Max support up to 1,000W solar input, so I'll get 4x220W solar for total of 880W should offset the 500W-ish 5,000BTU window AC even if it is a little cloudy outside. Luckily my apartment unit comes with a private 8ft by 12ft outdoor porch I can setup the solar panels.

After hurricane beryl I learned a hard lesson. I just want the smaller solar gen to run a small ac window unit. I don’t care about keeping fridge cool. What size delta would run a small window unit? I’m a single woman and a gas generator sounds way out of my league.
@LoneStarPrepping
@LoneStarPrepping Ай бұрын
Most ac units use a lot of power. Find out the rated watts on a unit. Mine is 500w or so. That means without solar, it will take that much out of my battery every hour. My battery is 3,600 watt hours, less about 15% because it uses that itself. My Delta Pro runs it fine. If solar brings in 500w, then its a wash.

Nice to see the testing. I would still take the Raynic because of its SW ability. If an EMP happend most likely all domestic radio stations would be gone and only news from other countries may be all that's available. I had recently purchased two of the Midland radios (smaller version) I think it was the E50. It did have the 18650 rechargeable battery so I was glad I found them on sale at Walmart (22$), but I couldn't get a decent AM signal on them inside the house even near a set of large windows. I had purchased a couple radios from a Ross clothing store a year ago and it is also rechargeable and a solar panel, but has multiple Short Wave bands and the AM reception is way better than the Midlands.....was shocked and disappointed so I returned those Midlands. I think the other radios are QFX brand. I put those both in my faraday box.
