@BrandonD I wouldn't say that they have a lot more in common. It's definitely not an apples to apples comparison. However, it's also not an apple to potato comparison. Triggers are not exactly comparable as far as mechanically. Yet both are true SAO Triggers.

STI before they became Staccato did indeed make guns that could be a top tier shooter. No longer. That is where Atlas, SVI Infinity and a few others come in. Staccato simply does not make a top tier gun. Staccato in no way comes with the refinement of a gun such as Atlas, Much less SVI. The fire control group is not hand fit but simply drop in parts. That and although it is claims that there are no mim parts, my hammer is already work out in 10 mo n ths of owning it and I don't compete. Dead soft. If it is indeed fully machined, they forgot to heat treat it or the DLC process temp was too high lowering it hardness far too much. KnifeMaker

I don't think Staccato is playing in the custom sector anymore for a reason. They went to a mass production quality "2011" I don't think they market themselves as a custom shop. Where I can go to a local gun store and pick up a Staccato vs. where I would have to wait for weeks to months for an arguably "better" quality gun. The return on investment doesn't go up just because you pay more. In the end, I'd rather have 2 staccatos vs. 1 Infinity.

@@ArmedCitizensEvolution Sounds like the same old argument that I would rather have 5 glocks that one Staccato. My point is that charge Custom prices and they are not made to the quality they charge for. I will give you a for instance. They are charging 500 bucks for a poly grip upgrade now. Wilson Combat offers a Poly grip for the 320 for 89 bucks. 500+ for a poly giip is outrageous. Several companies make very high quality Steel and Alu grips for the same kind of money. worse, Staccato will void your warranty if you so much as remove the Grip for full cleaning Much less relacing a trigger and bow. What other company making 1911 or 2011's void your warranty for removing a grip? None. NONE!!! Before you go off on me, know that my EDC is a Staccato C-2,. But it in no way matches any of my hard fit very well known Customs which several cost less than the very inflated Prices from Staccato brought on by so much paid for press on the Tube. I also have STI's that are far superior to the current products. (DVC'S) KnifeMaker/Retired after over 47+ Year in the Craft.

Great vid! I agree on the trigger. I think it’s good enough and I actually liked it until I tried to shoot it for groups on the bench. Then I could tell the pull was heavier than I was used to. Doing drills at 30 yards and in the trigger is just fine. If you’re going to shoot long range or for best groups then get a better trigger. The rifle is very front heavy and this becomes super noticeable if you add a heavy suppressor to the front.

Yes, the stock trigger is good. I wouldn't have any issues throwing it into a spare AR15, but I'm just so used to a single stage that the 2 stage triggers trip me up a bit. How reasonable is it have an 11.5 and a shorter 300blk barrel for one Spear Lt to switch between. Is the zero reasonable between switching barrels?
@ArmedCitizensEvolution
@ArmedCitizensEvolution 3 ай бұрын
I personally wouldn't do it if it's for range training. We live in a time where you can get 300 blackout for .56 cents a round. To answer your direct question, no, the zero shift is too great for usable training . Now, if you have 25-yard or 36-yard zero, then you could zero quickly, and it would be usable. However, for 100-yard zero, I'd pick one and either get a complete upper or just buy another one if funds allow.

In my experience it really depends on a few things. First is what DI gun are you talking about? My Daniel Defense 16” (untuned) is about the same as my Spear 16” in the high gas setting. And that means it’s bad as far as an AR goes. Both will jump significantly as the bolt travels at a high rate of speed and slams back onto its stop. Certainly not a bolt gun but definitely more recoil and muzzle movement than is achievable. However, if you shoot the spear in the low gas setting it’s very manageable and easy to bring back on target. It’s not as nice as a finely tuned DI gun but it’s pretty close. I also like the shorter version of the spear better than the 16”. For some reason it just seems to be a nicer shooting gun. The recoil impulse is different though as the AR BCG and buffer system feels different than the short stroke piston system. The movement of the bolt is confined to the upper so all of the movement happens in the middle of the gun vs. the buffer bouncing off the back of the buffer tube. In general I think you can tune an AR to be softer shooting than the spear but as long as you aren’t shooting full 5.56 on the high gas setting it’s shoots nice.

@@ArmedCitizensEvolutioncan you elaborate on the porting for the C2 and how it compares to a stock XC? I’m considering an XC, but may be swayed toward the upcoming C when it’s released if I could get it ported or add a comp. I like the external extractor, flat-faced trigger, redesigned (I.e., thinner in diameter) grip, updated barrel, and new magazine offered by the upcoming C. The only reason I’m leaning toward the XC is the integrated comp on the 5” island barrel. Thanks for the insight!!
@ArmedCitizensEvolution
@ArmedCitizensEvolution 5 ай бұрын
The best way I can describe the XC is that it was softer to shoot. While not necessarily "flatter," the recoil was less violent. Since staccato put a lot of E&D into the island comp. It stands to reason that it would mitigate felt recoil and muzzle flip substantially. The porting I would say is about 3/4 of what the XC offers in terms of recoil mitigation, and the cost is what really starts to favor porting over the XC. My C2 ported with RD, light, and modifications is around 4300. So, while I wouldn't necessarily say the XC isn't worth it. For about the same cost, I could get a P ported and have all the bells and whistle.
