The term coined by Chuck Jones . But that's essentially what television was. But give it some amount of appreciation for occaision funny images. As for Chuck Jones he had no business with that attitude considering what he did with Tom and Jerry

It almost seems like industrial espionage to me. I think many artists from Fleischer Studios gave Disney information about techniques, innovations, among other things. The industry has always worked like this
@RayPointerChannel5 күн бұрын
The use of the tern, Industrial Espionage is a bit histrionic and concluded by contemporary realizations. Everyone who worked in the Animation industry passed what they learned by working at various studios. While it can be concluded that Disney's luring of Fleischer's trained people to make use of their learned techniques, Disney took them further. But Disney was an unstable studio with layoffs. So it was natural that laid off Animatos took the knowledge from Disney and brought it to others studios. This is how the medium evolved. Thus was no conspiracy or deliborate effort to steal technology as was the case with people like Edison, Armstrong, or DeForest. Animation was a simpler and less sophisticated business. So this conclusion about deliberate Indutrual zespionatecis a gross overstatement. It didn't hsppen.

That "Lil' Abner" cartoon in the middle is pretty rare. Columbia made a couple of "Barney Google" cartoons that are even more rare, and I don't believe they were ever shown as part of "Ruff N" Reddy's " TV lineup. I still find it surprising there was no Screen Gems logo at the end.
@robertorick638325 күн бұрын
No Screen Gems "Torch Lady" logo in the original? I knew the NBC Peacock was at the beginning of the show, and the Columbia Screen Gems theatrical cartoons were used as filler during the middle of the show.
@RayPointerChannel10 күн бұрын
This is the way they aired. Take it from me. I saw these. NBC had rights to the Columbia theatricals, and continued running them during KING LEONARDO, which replaced RUFF N' REDDY in 1960.
@robertorick638310 күн бұрын
@@RayPointerChannel I believe you. It seems that the only H-B show that ended with the Screen Gems "Torch Lady" was "The Huckleberry Hound Show." When Screen Gems placed a ending tag again on a H-B product, it was 1963, when the "dancing sticks" logo started to appear on a number of H-B shows from 1963-1965 (1963-1966 in Canada.) Also notably missing from the prints was host Jimmy Blaine, who opened the 1957-1960 airings. Later airings post-1961-1964 were hosted by Captain Bob Cottle, and those episodes had a NBC "camera" closing, plus the 1962 "NBC Laramie Peacock" opening. It has been said by blogger Don Yowp at the "Yowp/Tralfaz" web sites that the theatrical releases of "Loopy De Loop" did not have a Columbia "Torch Lady" opening, either. Thanks for all of the info. This is a very historical TV series for H-B fans who have never seen a complete "Ruff N' Reddy" half-hour program.

I really enjoyed a colorized print of this today but someone commented it was cut down, what a treat to see it again uncut and in such great quality! BTW, online it says this was made in 1925 and they made several more in 1926. Maybe this is the latest one surviving? Sad, they made over 400 and how many are available now?

It was not " cut down." The print was a challenge already with some spliced sections. An amounts of sophisticated editing was necessary to overcome this flaw. However, if someone has a perfect print of this 94 year old cartoon, I would gladly accept ot since was released 10 years ago.

I had other important cartoons that illustrate the story more strongly, but KZfaq blocked the first post, and I had to remove those cartoons. They were SEEIN' RED, WHITE, AND, BLUE, THE BLITZ WOLF, MESS PRODUCTION, and RATION FOR THE DURATION. Interestingly, I have noted that these titles are posted on KZfaq and are not blocked for Copyright Infringement. I stuck my neck out to see what might be flagged and found out. This is another example of the double standard on KZfaq and their inconsistency in policing its content. I went through a similar issue last week with the posting of TV OR NOT TV. After four attempts I finally got a version that would not be blocked. Again, others use the same footage I am using and are not flagged. The difference is in how I am using it. I also do some image sharpening and color correction as well. So, thank you for appreciating this. I'll be posting Part 2 soon.

Revising this early series, I am making a lot of interesting discoveries about just what a struggle is was for them to get started in television. Originally, they were only offered $2700 to produce the first 13 episodes. That's $675 for each four minute segment, to $168.75 per minute compared to the $60,000 they had to produce theatrical cartoons, which cost over $8,000 per minute. Their first chapters of the Munimula adventure was shot on 16mm film. It appears that there had been some tampering with the original film elements when the series went into syndication because sections are out of synchronization. There is also evidence of damage where tape splices can be seen in at least three areas. Also there are jumps in scene cult and within the scenes themselves. The soundtracks seem to be on a separate roll since the jumps in picture do not coincide with splice thumps on the soundtrack. This may also explain the drifting of the synchronization since there may have been patched in footage replacing damaged footage the may not have been properly lined up. This can explain why some scenes are four to six frames out off. One scene was actually off by 24 frames, or one second! This has been an experiment in trying to adjust color and exposure balances from mediocre transfers made 40 years ago before the existence of film scanning. With the sudden interest in Hanna-Barbera history, many may feel that the RUFF AND REDDY episodes should be candidates for restoration, with specific attention to the first 13, which were the start of the Hanna-Barbera empire.

@thishandleistaken4253 ай бұрын

@RayPointerChannel3 ай бұрын
@@thishandleistaken425 Not quite. "Boop Oop A Doop" was a catch phrase that was in common use long before it was associated with Helen Kane and the Betty Boop character. It was used for the ending of the Oswald the Rabbit cartoons from this period as well. Unless a catch phrase is registered as a type of "trademark," no one has exclusivity to it. In the case of "Yabba Dabba Do," this is a trademark, exclusive to Fred Flintstone and the Hanna-Barbera properties thanks to the imagination of Allan Reed who originated it.

I have all of the episodes of the Muni-Mula story. You can search on KZfaq but you might only find the episodes with the Boomerang Watermark. The film sources need restoration. I have made a lot of adjustments in exposure, color correction, and fixed some image jumps caused by slopping assembly of the 16mm A/B Rolls that are not on other versions. Also, I have restored the flute intros to the spinning titles that are missing on all other versions which come from the syndication prints. What you are seeing is how they were presented when they originally aired on NBC. Because of the work I have done on these, my Watermark is there.
