I don't understand how this Melbourne Airport station forms part of the SRL? The images show it being at the end of the line. No loop in sight...

The loop connection won't be made for a long time to come as it's such a large project. The line they show in the video is the earlier rail line connection that's supposed to be built connecting it towards the centre of the city via the Sunbury line. The plan is to have these two different train lines both running to/through the airport.

It’s also a redevelopment of the original underpass that was opened in 1956 and was built as one of several public transport upgrades that were carried out specifically for the Melbourne Olympics that year! :)

I wouldn’t be surprised if those art installations are also heritage listed so they will have to preserve them when the stations are renovated in a few decades from now! :)

The escalators will be very similar in length to the ones in Parliament station as the new station will be just as deep as Parliament station! :)

Don't care for the Metro Rail Tunnel, its just going to be a inconvenience for passengers on the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines because trains won't be going into South Yarra and Richmond, they would have to change trains at Caulfield to a already crowded train that's from Frankston that's not good for disabled and elderly.

As someone who works 4 days a week in an office near the shrine of remembrance, I can't tell you how excited I am about!! The tram that connects Flinders st to st Kilda road is extremely packed, usually have to wait for 2 or 3 trams in peak hour before getting on.. this route will save me about 20 to 30 mins of travel every day in the office!! And imagine, no traffic. Super keen!!!

Catch 22 though: single lines don't have enough services because the infrastructure was never updated to allow for extra services. Passing loops are okay in the short term, provided there isn't a massive delay in a single section. I mean, if Ballarat isn't dual line already and it has 100k+ population, Warrnambool will NEVER see a dual line in the next 25 years minimum. 😱
