However, we crossed them off since we want to install the speed oven under counter. (The GE Advantium 240V ovens, including Monogram, are not approved for use under a countertop.) I feel like Jenn Air is our choice, after watching your video. Can you tell us if the newer Jenn Air speed oven has easy, simple controls when using as a microwave?

@appliancesexplained12 күн бұрын
Have you been able to play with the user interface on either machine? IMHO… The overall interface and auto guide options in Miele’s M-Touch Combi Steam is simply leagues ahead of the Thermador. Also, the drain at the bottom of the oven cavity on both the plumbed and non-plumbed versions of the Miele made clean up a lot easier. I think you get a sponge with the Thermador though. 🤷🏻♂️

What happens in case of a grease spill? Will it clog the water drain at the bottom of the oven?
@appliancesexplained12 күн бұрын
@@Mother_ease Not sure… I’ve never had it happen. I’d be surprised if it were difficult to deal with. Without first checking the manual for a factory recommendation to be certain… my assumption is that adding a little dawn to a cup of hot water and pouring it over the spill would do the trick. I believe the maintenance menu has a Drain mode that would suck up the soapy water… I’d then follow it up with a clean cycle. I think Miele had a promotional 3D video that showed the mechanics of the machine. The video might give you some insight on how the drain pump works.

Can you describe the differences between the 120 vrs 240 volt versions? I’m told the 240v is much faster.
I apologize for several responses. But I just re-reviewed this video and at 4:50 you simply grab the door of the Miele speed oven and pull it down. I ask because I have been trying to decide handle/no handle. Pushing a button and waiting does not appeal to me; but if I could just pull it down - problem solved. Is doing that practical when the oven is hot? P.S. I did call Miele and reached a very nice human who told me who the local warranty repair person was.
@appliancesexplained14 күн бұрын
Honestly (IMHO) it’s a bit of a pain not having a handle. The button thing is annoying in that it’s mostly responsive when touched but not consistently so. I eventually learned that I could pry the door open like you saw in the video but it requires a decent amount of finger strength. I actually thought about mentioning my irritation with the design in my reply to your last comment but was in the middle of 10 things. 😬

I have a Miele dishwasher from 2005. Still working perfectly. Can't say the same for my KitchenAid convection/microwave. I'm sold on the Miele H7870 BMX in grey glass. But I've got a couple of questions. One is installation. The product info on the Miele site list the min AND max width of the speed oven at 28 and 5/8" under "technical information". But if you download the "Instructions and Installation" pdf from that same page, on page #103 it shows the cutout to be 28 1/2"; which is the cutout I have. I need to know in advance if I need to a bigger cutout and a call to Miele.usa was not helpful "we don't do installs; call this vendor". I called and no one answered over a couple of different days. My only other question has to do with reliability and service (I'll by the Miele extra warranty). As I'm far away from D.C. (where I *think* you are) I'd gladly pay for a consultation.

this is made by Bosche correct? wondering if the push to open feature can be :retrofitted" into the Bosche columns? the only feature this has that I want is the push to open - helps with kids and seniors who live in my home. The Bosche has the white interiors still and that alone makes it the first choice...its down to that unit or the SubZero ones but budget will probably send me to Bosche - especially if I can add the push to open later (I know it will void warranty but that's my risk to take I guess)

It’s nearly identical to the Thermador and the Miele for a lot less money. I believe Thermador (BSH) allows you to view their schematics for replacement parts.
It might be easier for you to try and hunt down an open box Thermador or a display with a deep discount from a local dealer. With Thermador introducing 42 and 48 inch French doors, some of their dealers are probably wanting to swap out their column displays. 🤷🏻♂️

@@triaxe-mmb Typically the open box pieces do come with a full warranty but it might depend on the age of the unit. Just make sure you confirm via email with your sales rep that whatever open box item it is you end buying will come with a full warranty (so that you have it in writing). Most of the nicer appliances that I own were all discontinued/open box items. 😉

The concept of double oven freestanding ranges dates back several decades. My grandparents had a 40 inch double oven electric range, turquoise blue, dating from 1967 when they brought that house , and remained in good working order as of August 2022 when we sold the estate after grandma passed away that April. Together they raised 7 kids and life would have been far more stressful than it already was, without a double oven. Since young couples today are having fewer children on average, than say during the 1950s - 1970s, that's likely the reason double oven ranges are not as commonplace as they once were. Nonetheless they are convenient for those who love to bake, and almost a must for larger than average households.

All my baking is done in my only oven, a roughly 1.3 cu.ft. countertop combination microwave that's probably approaching 20 years of age. It's got four Quartz heaters (two for broiling, two for Euro convention), a calrod below the turntable and even a rotisserie. Of course, over here it runs off of mains power and can draw 3.1 kW. I wouldn't attempt a Thanks Giving turkey in it - but everything else work just fine. Also, if you ever find the time, I'd love a tour of this fever dream of showroom that you have. 😍

For me one of the most commonly used functions is the quick 30s microwave and then following up with some quick 5 or 30 second adjustments. Try that from a cold start on the Thermador. Atrocious. First you have to press the on button and wait for a splash screen and a low quality sound. Then navigate to microwave and then adjust time and start it. Didn’t time it but it’s something so basic that a lot of microwaves do right.

@appliancesexplained2 ай бұрын
There’s nothing I’m aware of that Miele offers but you could probably have one fabricated pretty easily though. Most custom metal fabricators will give you 3/4 by 30 inch piece of stainless for very little (in some cases no cost if they can pull it from a piece of scrap). Then just screw a 3/4 piece of plywood behind the range and epoxy the stainless to it. You could make it look nicer by having the fabricator make the stainless “U” shaped so that it can wrap it around the end of your plywood and potentially giving it a more finished look.
