I needed this because i was literally trying to kill my ego to the grave , so i was taking it too far, i was bringing me so much pain because i was experiencing a parodox I killed my ego but then I was feeling superior to the other person but that In itself is ego so I was confused and was bringing me pain but I think the answer to that is to ignore that feeling and have the true intentions of being humble

Epicureans define pleasure as the absence of pain. When they say the goal of life is pleasure they don't mean drinking and tons of sex and food, they mean living a simple life as free as possible from disturbances. I feel like this guy has just read the basic stoic stuff and pretends to know all of philosophy. He's the definition of a pseudo-intellectual.

Does Mr. Greene ever think or feel that his wife had the willingness, the same outlook of of observation of others that gave her the understanding that something was going on with him when he was driving and had his stroke? I'm interested in his feelings or view of this. He is a brilliant human being, and his mind , heart, and soul, I'm sure is one of the many reasons his wife fell in love with him. And vice versa, I feel she is the same kind of human being. Thank you for everything you both do

Why do people especially in the west want to combine everything? Its like “do you want chips or cake” and you say “why not combine” their purposes are different to eachother you can’t quite have both. For stoicism the ultimate goal is to be in accordance to nature and do your job as a human and serve human kind aswell as nature. For epicureanism pleasure is the ultimate goal, however it does have a detailed explanation as to how, as they accept that desire ultimately cause suffering and desire should be reduced as much as possible, then also account for hangovers aswell as pleasure just being a transition for high pain state to a low pain state and that this low point state is the best form of pleasure aswell as mental pleasures being superior to physical pleasures because while mental pleasures can be experienced in the past present and the future, physical pleasure can only be experienced in the present.
