Our 4 year old golden retriever x Swiss shepherd had very sudden onset MG, with mega esophagus and, within a week of onset of food regurgitation, complete limb paralysis. Within two hours of being administered an acetylcholineesterase inhibitor, he was able to walk and, indeed, run. Importantly, he was incredibly strong the day before vomiting commenced. It is clear the aetiology is not congenital but rather acquired and, while he has not had serological testing performed, based on the pharmaceutical success, MG is certainly confirmed. He is now at a point of having prednisone only as rescue therapy, instead of BD, together with the Mestinon. If there is a chance of the immunosuppressive therapy permitting complete resolution of the immunoglobulin response, is this interruption of the prednisone wise?

This is wonderful however the cost of these treatments are astronomical for the average income earners and people in limited financial circumstances. My cat has bladder cancer and my earnings are not enough to get everything available but I will do Everything in my power to help her.

I have a small schnauzer cross. The reports of dogs predisposed with DM & CS accurately describes him. Unfortunately he has developed DM, Cushings and pancreatitis. I am having trouble getting him to eat so I can administer insulin properly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One day after shearing (yes, like a sheep, not clipping) our brother/sister pair of Anglo Arabs, I ran across this video. I noted that it was released 11-years ago and what a relief in both attitude toward and treatment of equine Cushing's. Now in 2023, Cushing's has become "big business". I was so discouraged and feeling so guilty that I could not possibly keep up with the schedules and expensive meds that are being touted as the only way to maintain any quality of life. Thank you, thank you for the simple reminder, "Listen to the horse". Didn't we all learn that decades ago when Tom Dorrance released True Horsemanship Though Feel? My 25-year old gelding is exactly like you describe Prince (he has the double forehead sworl to prove it). So playful and affectionate, but a real handful on the trail. His sister is the enforcer of the two, but she has taught me that a horse doesn't act up for no reason. There's always an underlying issue. So I guess I'm saying that damn KZfaq algorithm this time worked its magic by showing me this video. I also have a 14-year old English Pointer dog with diabetes. She's clinically "died" about 4-times, but now (after listening to her) I've adjusted all her food and insulin injections to the point that she just marches around in her inner Daisy world, being totally blind and deaf, so effectively that visitors don't see anything wrong. Three animals with challenges like this going on at the same time as a record breaking Arctic winter is just coming to a close, had me feeling pretty down (and looking pretty stupid to most of the surrounding rancher community). Thank you for your down to earth sensible approach.

Hi all! Leslie here! A friend sent me this video today, and what a blast from the past it is! Prince lived comfortably another 10+ years after this video. We finally had to make the difficult decision to euthanize two days before Christmas (2021). He was nearly 35 years old. My key take-aways from my many years with a horse with PPID are: 1. Always listen to the horse first. 2. Monitor sugar, but don't let that overly control you. A happy horse always comes first. 3. Plenty of exercise. Turnout (controlling intake), in hand work, ridden work. A mini pasture pal is a great way to keep them moving ;) 4. Work closely with a veterinarian that knows you and your horse. 5. A low starch senior feed, may become a necessity with increased age/decreased dentition. Prince was eating 15-18 lbs of senior a day the last several years of his life. If you are an owner that found this video because of a recent diagnosis of your horse, may you leave with only hope. By listening to your horse, and always understanding their needs, you will have many more years of happy memories! I certainly did! Happy New Year! I hope 2022 treats us all with kindness!

Also, I just ordered Gold Life and CBD online (herbal remedies) figuring it's worth trying anything at this point. Can these be used with the chemo pills? Do you think the herbal remedies are worth trying?

Our cat was also diagnosed with inoperable oral squamous cell carcinoma and the oncologist vet gave us chemo pills to give the cat three times a week. It seems like an injection directed right at the cancer (-- that's what happened with the cat in the video, right?) might be more effective. We weren't offered this as an option. is this something any vet could do or is it a specialized treatment only offered in certain places? Our cat is barely eating at this point.

I had to put my cat down due to this type of cancer last week. He had heart, and kidney and immune system problems, so I'm not sure these drugs would have been viable treatment options. He was diagnosed just under three months ago, but looking back, I think he had the cancer for at least a year, and it invaded his bone early on. I just didn't recognize it until it spread to his lymph nodes. I read that cats who eat tuna had a 7 fold increase in developing this type of cancer. He had been on wet food since developing a life threatening infection years ago, and stayed on it due to kidney problems, and he would only eat tuna based wet food, but had I known about the risk, I think I would have tried harder to get him to eat something else. I can't help but to wonder if getting his teeth cleaned more would have prevented the cancer, but he didn't handle anesthesia well even before the kidney problems.

I have one dog who had to be euthanized due to DS (discospondylitis) after a very long period of treatment (NikkouDaisuke channel) and one who, thankfully, recovered with only post-infection spondylosis, for which he will always be on pain medications (Gabapentin & Tramadol.) If you suspect discospondylitis (or your vet does) in your dog... worth getting an MRI to possibly save its life.

In reality, there are quite a few things can affect the intestinal bacterial balance (immune) in a pet’s gut: Stress, poor diet, prescription drugs, pollutants, treated water, environmental changes, chemical fertilisers, pesticides, vaccinations, worm and flea treatments etc, soil sterilisers in agriculture (which damage the soil ecosystem and the natural flow of bacteria found in the food chain). Most people cannot afford to take their pets to a vet twice a year. It has become VERY expensive for vet care and medications. I paid 10K for Chemo for a 10 yr old dog and she died in 8 months. It was suggested to me that she would go into remission...she never did. Why is it so expensive to take proper care of our pets?
