Hi doc I had RD surgery in aug 2021 and doc suggested to remove the oil after 6 months I went to the doc again after 8 months instead of 6 to make sure everything is good When the surgeon was removing the oil, my retina got detached again He put the oil back and now whenever i visit the doc, i hear the same answer that i have to survive with oil in my eye for entire life and i cant get my vision back at all I can only see like 10% Is there such a condition or should i try other doctors as well ( tried 3 to 4 docs, some said it is recoverable if we remove the oil but im scared if my retina will be detached again ) Thanks in advance if you got time to respond 😊

And the surgical peeling of the wrinkled membrane where the RD repairs were made that resulted in post vitrectomy distortion can result in worse vision. I have this. In one eye, all text looks super sharp but like it’s in italics 😅 no other symptoms. The concern with me is, I’ve got diabetes 2 which was recently diagnosed but which was untreated for god knows how long due to not having any symptoms. Eye test in two weeks - will update!
