Great videos. I'm building a track and was very interested in what degree bank your large sweeper turn is. Thanks

You need to put lap counters along the top in the color of the cars/lanes so we can keep track.

I don’t understand the point in slot cars.. do you just give it gas and hope you got the faster car or what 😂
@user-ks5jl8kr7h19 күн бұрын
You assemble the car using parts and dimensions allowed in the rules. There’s many ways to set up the car to handle better, run faster, and be durable enough to finish. An electronic controller is used to drive the car. Then you run as fast as you can without coming off the track. Each lane has different radius turns and sight lines. In a race you run all 8 lanes and the finishing order is determined by the total laps run.

Even though there is no steering control, the concepts of under- and over-steer interestingly apply. Careful tuning and driving are required. Good drivers with well tuned cars make it look easier than it is.

We ran on a track like this in Martins Ferry, Ohio in the late 60s. It was laid out the other way, banking to the right, but the same shape. Never saw another like it.

@bobcatly7703 what you are describing is a reverse Orange. There was one in Lakeland until recently. It was a great track.

The orange track I raced on a lot as a teen had a chicane before the last turn and a dip in the track right after that turn.

How are the races done given that it looks like the inside would have a much shorter distance and a big advantage. Maybe it's round robin and everyone gets a turn on each lane?
@paulmenkens59972 ай бұрын
That's exactly how it's done.
@jimwood2232 ай бұрын
Yes, we rotate through each lane but don't let looks fool you. Each lane veries only inches apart in length because of the design. If you have as many left turns as right turns they balance out. When you have more turns or longer turns it can be balanced out with a donut turn etc.

Wow, these things are fast. When I was a kid 60 years ago and raced slot car I was one of the fastest in adult division and I don’t recall the cars being this fast. I had home rewound motors and frames. The same “angle winder” small can motors seems to be in use now. Just didn’t know it was on the rise again. I see no kids just guys. The track looks very similar to what we raced on back then.

The cars need a little tuning to be this fast. A flat chassis is a good start.
