You are right. It was inspired by a trip they made to NY and the struggles they witnessed. Just happened to be used in a movie about NY. They were just very aware of things going on in the world. Blue Island was dedicated to children of war torn Bosnia and Too Much Heaven proceeds donated to UNICEF.

You should watch and react to the movie SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, produced by Bee Gees manager Robert Stigwood, who also produced GREASE, also starring John Travolta. Stayin Alive is played at the beginning as the credits are being shown and in the opening scene with Travolta strutting down the street in Brooklyn.

Thanks for keeping The Bee Gees music alive. ❤ This performance was in 1989. New York Times was the Newspaper in New York. Remember this song was from a movie set in New York. (Saturday Night Fever). Things were not socially or economically great back in the day and this song reflected the times. The Bee Gees were born on the Isle of Man, moved to Australia, then back to England before Barry and Maurice settled in Miami. Barry is still living there now. Robin had a house in Miami but he mostly stayed in England. The Bee Gees were usually very good “live”. If you want to do a relatively “unknown” live performance, do 1975 Midnight Special “WIND OF CHANGE”.

Teddy did have a lot of women at his shows, some of his shows were Ladies Only concerts. In fact, just about everything The Bee Gees touched in the mid-late 70’s was a hit, either by them singing, or the songs they wrote for other people. Destiny’s Child also did a cover of this song in 2001 I really don’t think The Bee Gees ever did this song live. Another great “live” song is 1975 WIND OF CHANGE, on the Midnight Special! And their “medley “ live from 1989 One for All Tour. This is about a 13-14 min. segment, but they do snippets of about 7-8 songs, all around 1 mic, with Barry playing the guitar. It’s great!
