Didn't know it was an old video. I'm guessing it was recorded early 1998/late 1997.

A big thank you to all involved in the preservation of these buses. The video evoked so many wonderful memories from my childhood through to my late teens, especially the night-time scenes. I am originally from Wolverhampton where we had both Guy Motors and Sunbeam both producing trolley buses. A particular memory showing our "evil" mentality at the time. Near to home the bus had to slow down to enter a large roundabout, right outside one of our "watering holes". Being carefree teenagers with no thought for the dangers we would jump off the open platform as the bus slowed. The very last thing you did before jumping was to check your jacket pockets in case someone had dropped the chain used to block off the platform into the pocket !! When the trolleybuses disappeared so did the air of cosy friendliness everyone shared, not like the sterile atmosphere of today's buses. Am I just sentimental or were they really a beautiful spectacle ?

Considering when this footage was filmed it’s impressive! I’m more of a Scotland area enthusiast and I found this video really compelling. Great work.

Pst, Holland is a region in the west of the Netherlands, it's not the name of the country. ;)

At the end of the video you mention Derby 224. This is incorrect the bus in question is Derby 237.

Thank you. An unusual slip, for me (I'm normally very meticulous about research). I haven't been able to add an annotation, but I have added a correction in the video's description above. (If only KZfaq were as meticulous in notifying me of comments left...)

There's this innovative concept known as narration. Have you heard of it ? [Aussie in BC]
@RIGalleries5 жыл бұрын
I have, but that does require me to have the facilities to produce narration, properly, which I currently don't. I do have a short narration, to be inserted into the start of my next (and final, for the time being) Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum video - covering The Gathering in 2016 - paying tribute to my wife, who passed away in February of last year. However, the quality isn't ideal and I recorded it purely as a one-off.

For trains that were built in 1940 to last until 1993 is an insane amount of time.

An excellent video Rob. I'm about two thirds of the way through editing videos from my honeymoon on the IoM in September (several are already uploaded to my account). It's a wonderful place, my wife and I hope to visit again before too long and your video more than does the tramways justice, long may they continue!

Many thanks :-) I'm keeping my eyes open to see if the B fleet might make an appearance, over the weekends on either side of the half term holidays. If they do, we'll put in an appearance with the cameras and another video will follow.

Why are the containers at 0.38 changing colours and liveries?
@RIGalleries11 жыл бұрын
Indeed, it is :-) The reskin is from UKTrainSim. I suspect it's probably down to VRG's parent company wanting lots of money for a license to use their branding.

Mate is this the Pendo from Railworks? If so where do you get the Virgin Livery from? I really wish they bloody supply them with it!!!!

The RSC class 86 uses sounds in the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 86/87 sound pack. I've spoken to them and they've confirmed that the pack doesn't support the UKTS freeware class 86 - hence the difference between the locos in the video.
@RIGalleries11 жыл бұрын
I hadn't noticed that, to be honest. The 86/6s are reskins of the RSC one, whilst the other is a freeware one I downloaded from UK Train Sim. I'll look into why they're different.
@RIGalleries12 жыл бұрын
If I remember rightly, it uses class 86 engine sounds. I don't remember who uploaded them, though.

It's a nice route and I tend to run sessions on it whenever I go into TRS :-)
