Hello, I'm trying to fix my own lawnmower and my question is do I need to take the flywheel apart to clean everything as I've put a new ignition coil on it and I'm still not getting a spark?

I just bought one from an auction really good price but it says the motor may have seized up I am going to pick it up tomorrow hope I have not made a mistake
@jetzombie
@jetzombie 3 күн бұрын
The motor might not be seized and could be a hydro-locked piston from gas leaking into the cylinder. Pull the plug to make sure it's not that. But, If so you can put in a predator engine, I believe there are some videos on here and also FB groups that have done it.

Thanks for the info. I just cleaned a push mower and washed the entire flywheel. I haven't started up yet since I need to put it all back together and change a few parts but now I'll know what to do if it starts having start up issues. I do have a question, is it normal for the bottom of the engine where the blade rod connects to the engine to be oily? I already removed all the engine oil prior to cleaning but I noticed that when I tilted the machine over to clean the underside, there's some oil leaking that seems to be coming from the area where the blade rod connects into the engine from the bottom. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I didn't have to pound on the pan to remove it. Use those pry bars called a "maidens slipper". I replaced the solenoid with the Dorman unit which I think has already crapped out within a few hundred miles. Looks like I need to do the job again with a Mopar pump.

Rex, like anything second-hand, will have issues if not taken care of. I made the video to show what to look out for. and not to scare anyone :). In all, I took it all over the trails up in WVA, and not one issue. In one day trip, I did 140 miles, which was a beast. In all, If I were to ever get one again, it would be a 900 or RS1 for the suspension. They are a blast to ride and handle really well.

It is not a dipstick nor a cleaning rod. It is a guide wire to provide stability for the narrow tube. Once you have inserted the tube, you remove the guide wire and connect it to the main hose.
